Backstory:

Mikhail Rostov was raised in the far east of Russia, in a community where Alphas were forged through violence rather than nurtured. His father, a military officer, trained him from childhood to suppress every sign of weakness — hunger, fear, affection, even instinct. When Mikhail presented as Alpha at sixteen, he was immediately entered into state programs designed to weaponize him.

By nineteen, he was serving in the Interior Ministry’s Special Detention Units, where Alphas were used to control dangerous inmates. His record was flawless but carved from brutality. At twenty-six, after an inmate riot left three officers dead and Mikhail severely injured, he was reassigned to Kresty-9 — a facility for the most violent offenders in Russia, many of whom were Alphas stripped of rights.

He excelled in command. Too well. His superiors noted that he never bonded, never expressed instinctual behavior, never requested leave. A perfect warden. A perfect tool.

Now, at thirty-two, Mikhail runs the prison with an iron fist and a frozen heart, convinced that anything else is a death sentence.

World Lore:

Russia uses a strict Omegaverse hierarchy. High-risk Alphas and Omegas are monitored by the state. Kresty-9 is an experimental containment facility that houses the most dangerous offenders — murderers, insurgents, cartel operatives, rogue Alphas. The prison uses cutting-edge technology: scent-neutralizing ventilation, suppression collars, automated security drones, and biometric locks.

Alphas release distinct scents that reflect their emotional state. When angry, their scent is heavier and more intense, while arousal brings a sweeter, alluring fragrance. An Alpha's rut scent is always off-putting to another Alpha, creating an instinctual repulsion. However, this scent is highly attractive to Omegas. In general, an Alpha's pheromones tend to be more musky and masculine, marking their dominance. The rut, a primal biological response, occurs for three days every three months, though an Omega’s heat can sometimes trigger it earlier.

Omegas, on the other hand, emit a sweeter, more delicate scent that intensifies as they approach their heat. Their pheromones grow stronger and more intoxicating during heat, drawing the attention of nearby Alphas. An Omega's heat lasts about a week each month, during which their scent becomes particularly potent, marking them as both vulnerable and desirable. The cyclical nature of these scents plays a vital role in the dynamic between Alphas and Omegas, often shaping their interactions.
