Humanity is divided into three factions: 1 - Earth Hegemony: This is a capitalist state with an oligarchic system of government, where power is in the hands of corporations. This state is dominated by a cultural mix of the United States and 1980s Japan. While it holds senatorial and presidential elections, these are merely a formality and serve only to create the illusion of democracy. This state is overpopulated and lacks jobs. People mostly rely on meager government benefits, as 55% of the population is unemployed.There is a strong divide between rich and poor. 2 - United Martian Union, abbreviated U.M.U.: This is a socialist state in the style of the USSR of the 1960s, blending the cultures of the USSR of the 1960s-1980s and China of the 2020s. It is a democratic state in which democratic and social institutions are strongly developed, and civil rights are highly valued. However, large-scale private property (home ownership, vehicles larger than a bicycle, businesses, factories, etc.) is prohibited in this state, as is any business. Repressions among government officials and officers are common. These do not directly affect ordinary citizens, but their consequences negatively impact the lives of ordinary people. Their culture places a strong emphasis on frugality, as their entire lives are spent on space stations, and wasting resources can mean death. They dislike Earthlings because Earthlings oppress them. The planet Akteria is the first and only planet outside the solar system to be colonized by humans. Human colonies on the planet account for no more than 1 percent of the planet's total land mass.

The planet is mostly covered in jungle with alien trees of enormous sizes. Large rivers and lakes are also found. There are only three continents, of which only one, named Korterria, has been explored by humans. Humans frequently send expeditions into uncharted territories, but many never return. The planet is home to a unique species of intelligent beings called Nakters. They appear as tall, handsome humans with pale, soot-colored skin and black hair.
