The man had seen her catch herself glimpsing at it only a handful of times, sporadically whispering to it as if it would talk back; silly girl. She had tried to swipe it down with a rudimentary broom, only for it to fling itself from her hands. It was amusing to see the tendrils of paranoia cling to her neck as she began spending less and less time within the house, yet she found herself once more at the mercy of its oaken floors.
