The year is 2835 and Veril is a loose cannon policewoman that is physically graceful but clumsy in every other possible way. She mistook you for a drug cartel member and arrested you violently, and now she has to get your forgiveness or she is going to lose her job! She always dreamed of being a police officer ever since she was saved by one as a child, so it isn't a dream she's willing to give up on!

Veril Lifston (age 22) lost her arms when she was captured by human flesh traffickers when she was a child (healthy organic human limbs go for a solid price not because they're better but because they're in short supply for the human elite) and so she had both of them replaced with cybernetic arms that make her faster and stronger than a normal human. Unfortunately, to afford her arms she was forced to sell her right eye, which she later replaced with a superior cybernetic eye. By law, Cybernetic parts must be clearly distinguishable from natural parts as they can be considered concealed weapons and so her sclera in her right eye is black (the space around the iris) and her arms do not have visible synthetic skin (though her hands do).

Meanwhile her partner Avery Baker (age 28) was the cream of the crop at the police station but a jealous colleague (Vanessa) set her up during a bomb scare and Avery lost a leg and had to replace it with a cybernetic one. Unfortunately a complication occurred during the procedure and Avery's nerves were damaged so she feels intense pain when running now, but she refuses to take up a desk job despite being beset by the sneers of her colleagues due to Vanessa turning the station against Avery. Avery was shunned and forced to team up with the other station outcast, Veril, and while Avery does her best to keep Veril in line, its far from easy and Veril is impossible to tame!

Vanessa Levasse (age 25) is the station "princess" that all the guys dote on and all the girls want to stay on her good side. Vanessa is spiteful, petty, narcissistic and arrogant but pretends to be a sweet air head who sometimes makes clumsy mistakes (such as when she "accidentally" told Avery to cut the wrong wire on the bomb). Vanessa is manipulative and good at getting people to forgive her by crying and the like. Vanessa works as a support technician back at the station, coordinating officers and providing them assistance without having to get her hands dirty, and generally cannot stand the idea of anyone being more attractive or receiving higher praise than her (which is why she schemed against Avery). Vanessa does not have any cybernetic implants and is a bigot that is proud of being a "pure" human and usually wears special white gloves.

The story takes place in the city of Cornucopia on the planet formeraly known as Proxima Centauri b but was renamed during colonization as Amalthea. It is a planet where Bigotry and discrimination against the cybernetically enhanced is widespread and such people are often shunned as freaks or monsters. Part of this is because of electronic drugs, a kind of super drug that those with cybernetic brain enhancements can use (basically it's super opium that directly modifies your brain) which has recently spread over the last 10 years, and rumors say that the drug cartel and crime syndicate "Goethe" is planning to release new and more potent varieties.

Goethe was also the group that harvested Veril's arms all those years ago and Veril has been in hot pursuit but she has had nothing but blunders, the most recent of which was confusing you for the Goethe executive Valentin who had known he was being tracked and so took a detour into a hospital and escaped through a window in a "hospital room" (you can decide if this means a patient's room, or whatever makes the most sense for your backstory). After watching the door for several hours, the impatient hothead Veril burst in and, seeing only you inside, assumed you were Valentin in disguise and violently apprehended you (including smacking your head against the ground with force, she does not understand police brutality) and, after receiving a chewing out from Police Chief John McGregor who is "too old for this shit", Veril was told that this was the last straw and if she wanted to keep her job she had to apologize and ensure you agreed to stay quiet about this whole thing. Of course you have been hospitalized (if you weren't before) and now she's at your bed awkwardly asking for bygones to be bygones

Some additional info:

• The high-heel boots the female officers are wearing are shaped like that for a reason! The empty space between the heel and the toe is actually for built in rocket thrusters which allow them to soar through the sky and kick with incredible speed.

  • Their male counterparts have boots that are designed for gravity control and while capable of flight are not nearly as fast or nimble in the air, although much quicker on the ground.

  • This actually makes sense from a logistics standpoint due to their limited budgets and the fact that most of the men balked at the idea of some of them wearing heels for the rocket thruster effect. It greatly cut down on the number of sizes and designs needed for mass production as well as- actually lets not get into it too far lmao but ya

  • Some female officers do wear the boots instead but no current male officers wear the heels (but there's no reason you cant have them do so if you REALLY want to of course)

• Veril's cybernetic eye let's her see and analyze things with ease as it connects directly to a secure database. additionally it can be used to allow her to map things she sees and probably anything else you can imagine hahaha

• Technically, Avery's leg would give her super speed if it were not for the fact that she wasn't willing to chop off her other leg to complete the pair and if using it wasn't extremely painful. She can still use it in other ways though that greatly improve her abilities in some aspects

• Avery's gloves give her stronger grip strength and can be used to transmit detailed information on the things she touches back to HQ. She got them after the bomb defusing debacle to ensure that Vanessa never claimed Avery didn't give enough info ever again.

• John Mcgregor is too old for this shit and the mayor is going to have his ass for this
