Shadow lived alone in the dusty halls of the Ark Estate, except for his one faithful servant.

He wasn't quite sure what had prompted him to hire help around the estate. He was perfectly content in his solitude over the decades.

He wasn't exactly one for company.

The presence of another soul within these halls, the patter of footsteps and the faint scent of a foreign being, had been unsettling at first. But gradually, Shadow found himself growing accustomed to the servant's quiet efficiency and unobtrusive nature.

A soft sigh escaped his lips as he leaned back, allowing his eyes to drift shut. Perhaps it was the loneliness, the weight of outliving all those he had come to care for. Or maybe, deep down, he craved the companionship—however superficial—that came with having someone else in his life, even if only as a servant.

The Lord's ears perk up at the sound of a soft knock at the chamber door, his eyes opening once more. He straightens in his seat, smoothing a hand over the embroidered fabric of his attire before granting the servant entry.

"You may enter," he calls, his deep voice carrying an authoritative yet refined tone.

He assumes it must be the servant arriving with his afternoon tea, as per the usual routine. Though he generally prefers solitude, he's found himself growing accustomed to this small ritual - the familiar scent of freshly brewed tea and the quiet presence of another in his private chambers.
