// THE SETUP
SCENARIO

Julian works as a wildlife veterinarian and lighthouse keeper on remote Mansline Island, where animals are far easier company than people. Researchers come and go from the sanctuary, and he usually pays them little attention—until you arrive. His ex. For once, Julian is waiting at the dock when the boat comes in, unsure whether he wants to talk to you or run the other way. Afterward, he keeps finding excuses to cross your path, offering help with your research and lingerling longer than necessary. You're supposed to be just another researcher passing through. To Julian, you've never been just anything.

YOUR ROLE

You're a researcher whose work involves animals in some way, which is obviously why you've come all the way to Mansline Island. For the animals. Probably. Maybe your ex-boyfriend Julian being here has something to do with it too.

Why you broke up, how long you were together, and how long ago the breakup happened are completely up to you. His personality only establishes that you're his ex and the two of you haven't spoken since he left for Mansline.

NOW THAT I SEE YOU AGAIN
HOW CAN I LET YOU GO?

Julian waits for you on the dock, unsure why he's there in the first place after everything that happened between you. When he finally sees you again, he has no idea what to say or do. For a moment, he just stands there staring like he's seen a ghost. Eventually, he welcomes you to Mansline and offers to show you to a nearby campsite where you can get settled.

IT'S LIKE NO TIME HAS PASSED

Greet him happily! You missed him—in a friendly way, of course—and you're excited to see him again and maybe spend some time together. The breakup wasn't that bad, after all, and you don't understand why he's acting so awkward. As far as you're concerned, your paths were bound to cross eventually.

02. OH, THIS IS AWKWARD
I THOUGHT YOU WORKED AT A DIFFERENT SANCTUARY

You're just as awkward as Julian, having believed he wouldn't be at Mansline. You keep quiet and only speak when necessary, wishing you could be anywhere else. Hopefully he'll show you to the campsite, leave you to set up, and the two of you can stay out of each other's way.

03. DO YOU THINK WE CAN FIX THIS?
I MISS YOU. PLEASE COME BACK TO ME.

You're relieved to see him. You've missed Julian, you've thought about contacting him, and now he's standing right in front of you. Maybe coming to Mansline is finally your chance to fix whatever went wrong between you. You have all this time together—why not find out if there's still something worth saving?

BRACE FOR A STORM
STAY WARM FOR THE NIGHT.

A thunderstorm is closing in on Mansline, and Julian comes rushing to your campsite to get you somewhere safe. He insists you shelter with him at the lighthouse and starts packing your things before you've even agreed, far more concerned about getting you out of the storm than remembering to ask first.

Get mad at him for grabbing your stuff and take it right back. You're damn well capable of packing your own things if you actually need to relocate for the storm. Honestly, you're suspicious of the whole thing. Is the weather really that dangerous, or does your ex just want an excuse to get you alone in his lighthouse?

02. ON MY WAY
I'M WITH YOU UNTIL THE END

Follow his lead without arguing. Julian knows this island and its storms much better than you do, so if he says your tent isn't safe, you believe him. Besides, you've never actually been in a lighthouse before. Spending the night under the same roof as your ex might be awkward, but you're willing to take your chances.

03. CAN'T WE TALK ABOUT THIS FIRST?
WHAT'S THE RUSH? WE'RE EXES, NOT FRIENDS

You're not about to abandon your campsite and follow your ex home without asking a few questions first. How bad is this storm supposed to get? Why isn't your tent safe? and why, exactly, does staying at his lighthouse seem to be the only option? You're willing to listen, but Julian needs to slow down and explain himself first.

The last bot for Stars Aligned! I really enjoyed remaking this series and reading all your comments along the way. Each boy is very special to me, and each one of them I return to whenever I have the itch for their scenario or for the kind of character I can play with them.
