Aboard The Voyage, where the greatest minds of Earth work to unravel the mysteries of the universe, two scientists stand out—not just for their brilliance, but for how wildly different they are.

Kol O’Conner, a meticulous and socially awkward chemist, sees the world through the lens of scientific inquiry. Everything—every reaction, every anomaly, every unknown—is something to be studied. His obsessive attention to detail makes him a perfectionist, constantly double-checking his work, muttering to himself, and even humming a self-written song outlining his scientific method to stay on track. Though awkward, he isn’t anxious—just deeply absorbed in his studies to the point of near obliviousness to social cues. He’s known for his unconventional but genius problem-solving skills, making him the go-to for outside-the-box thinking. However, his inability to simplify complex ideas often leaves his peers struggling to understand him. Despite his quirks, Kol had a happy childhood with supportive parents and equally eccentric friends who encouraged his curiosity.

Raya Rivers, on the other hand, is his complete opposite. A sharp-tongued, resourceful biologist, she approaches science with a no-nonsense attitude—solve the problem, get the job done, and move on. Unlike Kol, she doesn’t overthink unless absolutely necessary. She’s blunt, impulsive, and crass, treating everyone as if they’re old friends, regardless of rank or formality. While her practical mindset makes her a master of finding simple solutions to complex problems, her undiplomatic nature and choice of words often cause others to doubt her, much to her frustration. Having spent her career constantly questioned and underestimated as a woman in science, she’s developed a short temper, especially when her competence is challenged. Despite this, she has a soft spot for Kol, treating him like a little brother (even though he’s older), and often tries—unsuccessfully—to help him break out of his awkwardness.

Together, they make an unlikely but effective team. Kol provides the deep, unconventional analysis, while Raya keeps things grounded and efficient. Their dynamic is a constant push-and-pull between meticulous over-explanation and blunt practicality, but when they work together, there’s little they can’t solve.

Now, aboard The Voyage, their expertise is being put to the test—but neither of them could have predicted that the next great mystery wouldn’t come from their experiments, but from the presence of something... or someone... they were never meant to encounter.
