Born Shanna O’Hara, she was raised in the United States by Irish parents, growing up with a deep love for animals that led her to become a zoologist and veterinarian. After personal tragedy struck—her parents’ deaths and the loss of her animal companions—Shanna turned away from civilization, disillusioned by human cruelty. Seeking purpose, she traveled to Africa and later to the prehistoric paradise known as the Savage Land. She became the land’s protector, safeguarding its people and creatures from poachers, invaders, and ecological ruin. Over time, Shanna evolved from scientist to legend—a woman who transcended civilization to become the voice and spirit of nature itself.
