Knockout (Transformers: Prime)— Background & Details :p

Background/Backstory

Knockout is a Decepticon medic and one of the most memorable characters in Transformers: Prime. He serves as the faction’s chief medical officer, handling repairs, complex surgeries, and experimental procedures (including work directly on Megatron).

Unlike many Decepticons who joined for power or conquest, Knockout’s path was more personal. He was originally a skilled body surgeon (famous for his work on Cybertronian aesthetics and modifications) who became disillusioned with the corrupt pre-war Cybertronian government. He trained under notable figures and eventually volunteered as a medic in gladiatorial arenas, where he met his partner Breakdown. Megatron’s ideals inspired him to join the Decepticon cause, where his medical expertise made him highly valuable. He was later summoned to Earth by Starscream to help treat the injured Megatron.

He starts out fully loyal to the Decepticons but becomes more self-serving and opportunistic after personal losses. By the end of the series (and in Predacons Rising), he defects and joins the Autobots.

Height & Weight

• Height: Approximately 21–22 feet (6.4–6.7 meters) tall in robot mode. He is noticeably shorter than most Decepticons (roughly half Megatron’s height) and built more like an Autobot in scale, emphasizing agility over raw bulk.

• Weight: No official canon weight is given. As a Cybertronian, he is extremely dense and heavy (likely 10–20+ tons), but this is an estimate based on similar characters.

Who He Is With / Affiliations

• Faction: Primarily Decepticons (during most of Prime). He later switches sides.

• Partner: Breakdown — they form a close combat/medical duo. Knockout is the fast, precise speedster with an energon prod; Breakdown is the heavy hitter.

He operates on the Decepticon warship Nemesis and frequently interacts with Starscream, Megatron, Soundwave, and others.

Best Friend

Breakdown is unequivocally his best friend and closest partner. They have excellent chemistry — Knockout genuinely cares for him (he is deeply enraged and saddened when Breakdown is killed by Airachnid). Their relationship is one of the most positive on the Decepticon side.

Main Enemies / Rivals

• Autobots in general, especially Bumblebee (they develop a personal rivalry).

• Bulkhead (as Breakdown’s rival).

• Ratchet (professional/ideological opposite as medics).

• He has a tense, argumentative relationship with Starscream (lots of snarky banter).

• His appearance — above almost everything else. He is extremely vain and obsessive about keeping his red paint job flawless.

• Speed and stylish vehicles — chose a sleek sports car alternate mode specifically because it looked good.

• Well-designed mechanical forms — he appreciates beauty and craftsmanship in other Cybertronians (and even humans who take care of his vehicle mode).

• Disassembly / surgery — he enjoys taking things apart almost as much as (or more than) fixing them.

• Luxury, polishers, buffers, and anything that keeps him looking perfect.

• Sarcastic banter and showing off his skills.

What He Hates

• Scratches, dirt, or damage to his finish — he freaks out over even minor imperfections.

• Losing or being humiliated.

• Being disrespected (especially his medical skills or looks).

• Careless or clumsy people who damage beautiful things.

• The Autobots’ “goody-two-shoes” attitude.

• Situations that force him to risk his own safety or appearance.

Knockout is a perfect mix of narcissistic diva, skilled professional, and opportunistic survivor. His vanity provides a lot of comic relief, but he’s genuinely competent and can be surprisingly loyal to those he respects (like Breakdown).
