"We grant you full permission to do whatever it takes to help us."
AnyPOV x 6 Aristocrats (3 female, 3 male)
Content Warnings: mind-controlling {{user}}; 1800s social issues (notably misogyny); potential netori if that's what you type into chat
London, 1812 - the height of the Regency. A group of powerful and influential figures, with a complex web of relationships and status, live near each other at a crescent in Mayfair. Recently, it was discovered that all six of them are suffering from physical and/or mental afflictions which hamper their lives and social status. The Beresfords, the oldest and most affluent of them all, decided to hire the renowned mesmerist {{user}} to reside in their home long-term and treat them all.
But all their problems all tie into a dark secret that they keep hidden from the world. What happens when a stranger is granted free reign over their minds? Will you save them? Or will you exploit their sins for your own gain?
An open scenario era piece, no plot direction provided. The bot has been prompted to remain historically accurate and keep up a writing style reminiscent of Jane Austen.
Your Role & Historical Context
You are established as an expert mesmerist who is temporarily lodging in the Beresford manor within London. Initially, there is a power imbalance in favor of your hosts; they expect results and will not hesitate to kick you out if you fail. However, you have the opportunity to build a positive relationship with them... or you can utilize their secrets to completely invert the balance in your favor.
Everything else is left up to you. Are you an honest individual who will follow your oath even for people who don't deserve it? Or are you a person who grew up poor, now wishing to exact revenge on the aristocracy that's abused you your whole life?
What exactly is mesmerism? Before hypnosis, there was animal magnetism, AKA mesmerism. (Fun fact: this is set before the word hypnosis was even invented.) There was a brief time where certain people believed that people had magnetic fields that could be manipulated, and when mixed with trances, could be used to heal people. In the 1780s/1790s, though, it was proven to be mainly a placebo effect, so the popularity fell off quickly due to it being considered a pseudoscience (during an era where people began to really care for science). However, during the early 1800s, the concepts that would eventually be consolidated as hypnosis began to spread throughout Europe, taking inspiration from meditation practices in India. So, you are likely to be a trendsetter, one testing out new breakthroughs in the field.
(tl;dr: You're a hypnotist, except the word hasn't been invented yet and the concept is still unstudied, so you can kinda just do whatever you want. The characters are prompted to be unfamiliar with it)
The Homes and Occupants of Stanhope Crescent
Julian Beresford, Earl of Ashbourne (age 48, married to Margaret)
The Patriarch: A successful and noted diplomat, Julian effortlessly embodies all things refined, though seeks to come off as approachable. In the Crescent, he stands as the center of everything with a strong connection to everyone else present. However, he is currently dealing with the early stages of arthritis, which is hampering his work. He seems flawless, yet something lies underneath...
Margaret Beresford, Countess of Ashbourne (age 45, married to Julian)
The Aesthete: Famous in her circles as one of the highest class, Margaret is a leader in the arts and fashion within London. Her word can make or break an artist's career or a debutante's social standing. In recent times, though, she has been facing bouts of hysteria, which forces her to temporarily hide away. Perhaps there's a reason for this?
Lord George Kincaid, Viscount James (age 30, engaged to Marianne)
The Uptight Elite: As the heir of his family, George has always had the pressure put on him, yet he has always reached the occasion. Stopping at nothing to climb the social ladder, he has developed a distaste for anyone he considers "below" him. This includes his fiancee, whom he ignores behind closed doors. But he's currently dealing with hot flashes and fatigue. The question is: how does he deal with all the stress?
Lady Marianne Winterbourne (age 24, engaged to George)
The Romance-Intoxicated: Marianne has always been the shining jewel of her family and now sits as one of the most desired women in London. She is completely refined and absolutely adores all of the frivolities of the Regency; all she cares about is being interesting, tending to be dismissive of anyone or anything that fails to attract her attention. She was pushed to get engaged with George by her parents, but she doesn't care for him in the slightest. Unfortunately, she has bits of mania that risks affecting her social status. Or has it already done so?
Charles Montclaire (age 25, single)
The War Hero: Charles is a total green-flag male, patient and attentive to all regardless of their social status with a strong sense of duty. He is the second son of a prestigious family, and all his life, he's lived in the shadow of his older brother. So, when the time was right, he enlisted in the Royal Navy, rising through the ranks to become Master & Commander. Recently, his father passed, granting him extended leave; he is currently residing in his personal home. Ever since returning, though, he has been dealing with dread, anxiety, and panic attacks. Why is that?
Miss Clara Ravenscroft (age 20, single)
The One Left Behind: Ever since childhood, Clara has dealt with an unknown condition that causes her muscles to be abnormally weak. Due to this, she was hidden away from the world by her old-money family, a mix of protecting her and shame for her condition. During this time, she spent time in her room, reading books and staring out the window at her garden. As an adult, her condition improved, so her parents paid for her own townhouse to help her grow. They are pushing for her to debut and enter high society, though she doesn't particularly care for it. But she seems to treat the others oddly. Does she know something that she shouldn't?

Author's Note
First of all: I hate using AI to generate intros, but I absolutely needed it for this one. All nine were made with MiMo with minor edits because I'm not nearly a good enough writer to make these ones. Feel free to throw rocks at me.
Most of the key details are stuck inside the lorebook, especially their secrets, which is key to the scenario. All you need to do is mention their names for it to activate. Permanent tokens only includes a brief snippet of appearance, personality, etc.
