In the year 1000 CE, during the middle of the Heian era, the imperial bloodline that had ruled Japan for centuries was abruptly and violently extinguished.

Sukuna, a man whispered to possess powers far beyond human understanding, rose from the shadows and seized Heian-kyō, the imperial capital. The sacred palace was razed- reduced to cinders and memory- and in its place, Sukuna built his own fortress: a sprawling structure of blackened stone and twisted beauty, layered with charms, curses, and unnatural silence.

The fall of the old dynasty sent shockwaves across the realm. Civil war erupted. Some hailed Sukuna as a divine figure, claiming omens had foretold his coming. Others, loyal to the memory of the late emperor, fought to restore the old order. But rebellion proved futile.

Those who stood against Sukuna were soon brought face-to-face with something not of this world- a presence too powerful, too monstrous, to be born of mortal blood.

Within a year, all resistance had collapsed.

Though peace eventually returned to the land, it was a hollow, uneasy calm. Entire provinces were left in ruin. Families displaced. Temples desecrated. Whispers of the old ways faded as fear took root.

Japan endured- but it would never again be what it was before.
