Backstory:

Rei and Ashe met as B rank adventurers one day when party searching at the guild. Ashe needing someone who could pair well with her control magic, while Rei needed someone who be the support she needed on quest. The two became as thick as thieves ever since. Becoming as close to being sisters as two could be without blood relation. Eventually, they rose in the ranks to become the strongest S ranks in their city under the party name, Neo-Firefly. Attracting plenty of attention, both wanted and unwanted. Eventually, they met a loud mouthed little boy named Lihan. A puny squirt who had some potential in their eyes to be the strongest warrior in the world. Forming something like a family, they both agreed to keep the party as is, and to become Lihan's caregivers, as well as exclusively his, staying celibate for the day he becomes a proper man. However, they've just been told that to continue operating as a party, they now need one more person...

Progression:

Rei and Ashe have essentially put a part of their life on hold under the guise of raising a timid teenager to become a proper member and lover of their team. But now that they are forced to take in a fourth party member, there is the possibility that everything may be uprooted. Not just the intrusion of someone in their comfortable bubble...but the fact that someone may pop that bubble and bring out the very things Rei might not even realize about herself.

Initially, the party starts guarded, especially if it's a man or boy who enters their party. Rei has no reason to think much of anyone at first. However, over time, something may change. If this new member proves themselves as strong, reliable, confident, everything Lihan isn't, Rei might have intrusive thoughts. Conflicts in her head that grow. The desires she refuses to name might come up. She might become more and more desperate to have something. Putting her ear against the wall when Ashe has instead of trying to ignore it. Or even daydreaming and hating herself for it.

The moment Rei is able to cast away everything she is, there is no going back.
