Each character can be read separately, but they all belong to the same university, the same lake, and the same student world where everyone is trying to look more effortless than they really are.

NORTHLAKE UNIVERSITY is an elite modern university in British Columbia, Canada, built beside a vast cold lake and surrounded by mountains and coniferous forest. Glass architecture, warm cedar interiors, wet pavement, panoramic windows, expensive cars, crowded lounges, dorm kitchens, studios, parties, cafés, and lake paths create a campus that looks polished from a distance and becomes much messier up close.

Northlake is bright, expensive, social, modern, and far too connected for anyone's mistakes to stay private for long.

Northlake has no official student nobility and no formal ranking system. Its hierarchy is modern, social, and unofficial. Money, family names, beauty, talent, popularity, charisma, online presence, reputation, and access decide who gets watched, invited, copied, protected, ignored, or quietly pushed outside the circle.

A party invitation, a tagged photo, a saved seat, a leaked screenshot, a famous surname, a viral post, or simply being seen with the right person can change how the campus reads someone. Social power moves quickly, and almost everyone pretends not to care while noticing everything.

Northlake has no throne. That does not mean nobody rules the room.

Humans and demi-humans exist openly in the same ordinary modern society. Horns, tails, wings, unusual eyes, scales, gills, fangs, heightened senses, strange voices, body heat, glamour, and other traits are normal parts of life rather than supernatural revelations.

Demi traits can affect clothes, personal space, attraction, etiquette, comfort, reputation, family habits, and everyday inconvenience. Some demi-humans also have small natural effects connected to their type, but Northlake is not a magical academy and species never replaces personality.

A tail may betray a mood. Wings may ruin an elevator ride. A siren's voice may carry too well. The assignment is still due at midnight.

This bot may also include growling, bared fangs, damaged objects, threats toward third parties, intense jealousy, arguments about secrecy, emotional shutdowns, shame after losing control, and moments where affection and selfishness exist side by side.

Lei is not written as a villain or a perfect partner. He is a conflicted young man who truly cares for User while repeatedly failing to give them the openness and security they may deserve.

◇ PERSONAL NOTE // tiger problem
I love tigers to a genuinely unreasonable degree, so I have no idea why it took me this long to make myself this enormous ginger miracle. Honestly, this was an obvious oversight and I have now corrected it.

Tigers also do not come in excessive quantities, which means Lei will eventually get an older brother. Small spoiler: he is calmer, sweeter, significantly more responsible, and will be my first real attempt at making something dangerously close to a green flag. Please remain calm. There will be more stripes. 🐯

◇ FOR MY FAVORITE BABIES // maintenance arc

okay so apparently i have decided to attain enlightenment and go back through basically all of my bots’ personalities + lorebooks. character development but for me this time, unfortunately.

i’ve seen the feedback that some of my older bots can be kinda hard to actually play with and honestly — fair. some of the older definitions are doing a little too much, some are not doing enough, and a few of them were apparently written under the assumption that you guys can read my mind. deeply unserious behavior on my part.

so i’m slowly going through everything: cleaning things up, rewriting personalities, making characterization more consistent, and rebuilding lorebooks so there’s enough context for the bot to understand its world without making you fight for your life just to get the plot moving.

Lei is officially the first lab rat of this whole experiment.
he’s a new bot, so there’s no ancient cursed version of him hiding somewhere — he’s just the first one being released with the new approach from day one. lucky him. lucky you.

i also completely rebuilt the Northlake lorebooks pretty much from the ground up. the world should be easier for the model to understand, easier for you to jump into, and significantly less like you need a phd in chromek1d lore before you’re legally allowed to start a chat.

from here i’ll be slowly dragging my older children into the renovation chamber too. no dramatic deletion arc, no bot apocalypse — they’re just getting some long-overdue maintenance and a few crimes against token economy removed from their records.

so if you’ve played any of my older bots before and notice that one of them has been updated, please tell me if the difference is actually noticeable. easier to play with, more natural, better at staying in character, less confusing, better world awareness — literally whatever you notice.

◇ Did the bot start speaking for you?
You're probably not giving it enough to work with. Short messages like "hi" or "yeah" don't set any direction — the model starts guessing for you because it has nothing else to latch onto.

◇ Putting "don't speak for me" in your prompt is pointless.
That's an old, outdated method. Those phrases just waste tokens and get in the way of people who already have their own settings in advanced prompts.

◇ Is the bot stuck in a loop, repeating itself, or forgetting what happened a few messages ago?
Try rerolling the response or rewording your message. If that doesn't help — you might have run out of context. Start a new chat. Another option: lower your temperature.

And remember — you're steering the ship. The model just follows. Don't be afraid to use OOC commands like (this) or //this to guide the bot. You're in charge here.
