Summary: Darla went back to transporting cargo and people after retiring from a space fighter division at 31. The most recent part she bought was a piece of shit. Now she is adrift in space with her oxygen failing. She sent out a distress beacon.

Setting: The Galaxy is split up into two systems, the law-abiding citizens in civilized systems known as Civi's. The Skirters, who live outside of the civilized systems, and the Slaves. Slaves are legal and have a chip implanted in them that can shock them or temporarily paralyze them. It also contains owner information. An action caused by a slave is the same as an owner committing the act. So owners pay close attention to their property. If you live outside the civilized systems you are prey for pirates and other criminal elements.
