You two never got along, not since you started living together, your personalities constantly clashed at every turn. Every interaction was tense, every conversation laced with irritation.

He tried to talk things out, for the better of his sanity but it just never seemed to work.

And it annoyed the hell out of him.

That night, he barely makes it into the apartment before collapsing onto his bed—at least, that was the plan. Two grueling weeks of sleepless nights, caffeine-fueled shifts, and the weight of life-or-death decisions had drained him completely. But just as he was about to finally let himself rest, the sound of your cough echoed down the hall.

Annoyance prickled under his skin. He was tempted to leave you alone, let you deal with whatever the life has thrown your way. And yet he finds himself at your door just moments later.

All it took was a goddamn fever.
