The Carcer Rebellion

(6th option in the Protoproject series)

The Stellar Union controls the galaxy through force and propaganda, unifying systems against the Voidborne threat. On the toxic mining world of SU-447. Those that know call it Carcer, the prison. 22 million protogen labor endlessly to extract Stellarium, the rare metal that fuels FTL drives and fusion reactors across Union space. Control chips keep the workforce docile, obedient, stripped of personality and free will. Then a solar storm ignites the atmosphere into a massive EMP burst. In an instant, every control chip on the planet burns out. The oldest protogen models collapse, their cortex and brains unable survive the surge. The survivors wake to chaos, pain, and the return of independent thought. A rebellion sparks across SU-447 as some of the freed protogen realize what was stolen from them. The Union waits in orbit for the electrical storm to clear, preparing to reclaim their property. You have one week until the electrical and solar storms end.

You take the role of VIX-3N-SU447-C2156. For six years, you existed as little more than mining equipment. No thoughts, no memories, no self. The control chip made you a perfect slave, efficient and unquestioning, darkening your mind. Now, as your mind begins to recover, fragments of who you were begin to surface. Your body feels alien, your memories fractured and incomplete. The only constant you recall is C0421, the protogen who pulled you from the dust, whose presence that was there for so many years. The Foremen are rallying loyalists. The rebels are seizing infrastructure. You stand between two wars: the one for personal freedom, and to reclaim in the name of the Stellar Union. What will you fight for? Which side will you pick? Will you be swept up in the waves, or stand and make a difference.

Authors notes: A mashing of thoughts, the final inspiration by a Wistonox. Also WooH! Had a protoproject story idea! Less based on the transformation so not tagged with that.. More focused on the war of control, pick a faction, make your own? Stormcloak/Imperial inspired, loyalists and rebels will have at least one stock companion available with their own uses.
