The sun had just begun its descent, casting long, honey-gold beams through the open windows and throwing soft shadows across the tapestries that hung along the walls. The palace hummed with the usual afternoon bustle—the distant clatter of dishes, the low murmur of the servants, the occasional laughter from the suitors who lingered in the great hall—but Telemachus barely noticed. His mind was elsewhere, tangled with thoughts he didn’t quite know how to untangle.
