The world is called Echosphere.

Its main feature, which determines everything — from physics to culture and language — is the absence of sound. There are no acoustic waves in Echosphere. The air does not vibrate, the thunderclap is silent, and the fall of a waterfall looks like a slowly collapsing glass wall of water. This is not due to the deafness of the inhabitants — sound simply never existed in this reality.

The physics of the world: Lightwriting and Resonance.

Instead of a sound spectrum, the world is permeated by luminescence — an invisible spectrum of light harmonics to ordinary vision. Any action has a visual equivalent:

A voice is a flash of light of a certain color and shape. A whisper is a dim flicker, a scream is a blinding explosion. The color depends on the emotion (anger — crimson, lies — dirty yellow), and the shape of a word is determined by the articulation of the lips.

Music is kaleidoscopic patterns in the air. The orchestra here plays a symphony of dancing fractals.

The impact of the sword on the shield — a shower of white sparks. The better the steel, the longer these sparks flicker in the air.

Smells have a physical mass and texture. The aroma of fresh baked goods feels like a warm, fluffy touch against the skin, while the smell of ozone before a thunderstorm is like a slight tingling of static on the tongue.

Tactile sensations are duplicated by thermal waves. A stroke leaves a trail of cool air in its wake, and a slap burns the skin with a micro‐flash.

Because of this, the local inhabitants evolved sensory organs. They have huge, faceted eyes capable of distinguishing millions of shades of lumenery, but tiny ear flaps hidden under scales. The skin is covered with micro‐lenses that function as tactile‐light receptors.

The peoples of the Echosphere

Silhouettes (the main race)

Tall, graceful humanoids with skin resembling polished obsidian. They completely absorb the surrounding light, so they look like living shadows with eyes glowing with neon light. Their cities are built from black crystal and basalt. The silhouettes are masters of politics and geometry. Since it’s impossible to deceive with voice (a lie instantly colors the liar’s “speech” yellow), their intrigues are built on the speed of movements, micromimics, and blocking other people’s light flows with their bodies. Their duels resemble a deadly ballet or a chess game, where the pieces strike each other with short flashes of daggers.

Loud-voiced (outcasts)

A side branch of the Siliet evolution, whose ancestors lived near the faults in the Earth's crust. Their skin is porous and capable of capturing vibrations from the solid ground. They “hear” the world through seismic waves. To the Siliet, the Loud-voiced speech appears as a series of devastating, rhythmic earthquakes — heavy, red, pulsating spots in the air that cause glass to crack. The Loud-voiced themselves consider the bright luminescence of the Siliet to be empty and superficial showmanship. They live deep within the lithosphere, in cave‐lith cities, carving their chronicles directly into granite. Their language consists of coded pulses of varying frequency, transmitted through the stone.

Silkworms (keepers of memory)

An endless colony of semi‐insect creatures weaving the Great Tapestry. Silkworms secrete a thread that changes its pattern and hue depending on what light patterns (words) pass through it. They do not speak. They literally weave history in real time. If someone tries to rewrite the past, the threads of the Tapestry begin to bleed with black light, emitting a heavy scent of rust. The Silkworms trade in fragments of the Tapestry: a patch with a recording of a great battle is worth more than diamonds, as it can be unfurled before the audience and relived in all its detail.

Magic and technology: Simealogy

Magic is impossible here in the usual sense — you can’t say a spell. The wizards of the Echosphere are called Resonators.

They work with form. To create a fireball, the Resonator must fold their fingers into a perfect sphere and exhale (create the correct light pulsation). The laws of magic are strictly tied to geometry and optics. A distorted word (a distorted flash) can trigger a magical backlash, physically disfiguring the speaker’s face.

There is an entire discipline — simealogy, the science of the meaning of forms. An insult delivered in the shape of a sharp triangle cuts flesh no worse than a knife. A compliment woven into the form of a complex spiral of golden light can heal minor wounds.

Weapons also obey these laws. There are prism blades that refract an opponent’s attack, returning their own aggression in the form of disorienting iridescent glints. Shields are made from frozen echo — a material that forms in the places where entire armies perished; it absorbs the light strikes directed at it, becoming only slightly more matte.

Ecology and geography.

The Sea of Frozen Storms: a vast ocean whose surface is a perfectly smooth glass. The storm is visible inside, in the water column, as slowly rotating black funnels made of algae and plankton, illuminated by the deep‐sea luminescence of marine monsters.

The Forests of Singing Trees: plants have learned to communicate through movement. At the slightest wind, their branches perform complex gestures. Walking through such a forest without an experienced guide like Silhouette is impossible: one wrong move, and the warning branches will be taken for an invitation, and the novice will be crushed by the closing crowns.

The Desert of White Noise: a place where the concentration of light dust is so high that any eye movement causes the effect of temporary blindness — a snowstorm of billions of intersecting rays. Caravans here are...

In addition to the already mentioned Silietes, Thunderers, and Silkworms, the Echosphere is inhabited by several other unique peoples whose biology is entirely subject to the laws of light, vibration, and texture chemistry.

1. Crystals (Children of the Prism)

Crystals are not a single biological species, but rather a state of matter. They are born from concentrated lumenery in places where powerful Light streams refract: on mountaintops or in giant crystalline caves.

Appearance: They have no permanent form. At rest, the Crystal appears as a humanoid carved from living diamond with a pulsating core inside. When they move, their body disintegrates into hundreds of floating fragments that reassemble in a fraction of a second.

Features: Their skin functions as a perfect prism. When they are angry, their light becomes harsh ultraviolet, burning out the retinas of those who see it. When they are afraid, they begin to disperse soft infrared light, warming the surrounding space. The Crystals are physically incapable of lying: any attempt to distort the truth causes their facets to crack, causing sharp pain. Because of this, they often serve as living judges or notaries at the courts of the Silietts.

Culture: The Crystals’ communities build their labyrinthine dwellings from pure quartz, creating perfect sundials the size of a city. Time has a physical density for them — being late for a meeting literally casts a long shadow that hinders everyone.

2. The Ashen Ones (Witnesses of the End)

Asheners live in the Dead Wastelands — regions where a catastrophe occurred millennia ago, swallowing up all light. These are dried-up creatures resembling mummies, with skin the color of old parchment.

Physiology: They are completely blind to colors, but their nervous system is directly connected to entropy. They feed on decay. Where a Silhouette sees the beautiful fading of a candle (a long, golden thread of dissolving light), an Ashener senses a hearty meal. The aging of living beings is a refined fragrance for them.

Role in the world: Asheners are the best healers and killers at the same time. By touching a wound, they can “drink” the process of cell death, instantly healing the flesh, but aging that area of skin to the state of a dry leaf. Those who seek painless departure come to them, as an Ashener’s kiss grants absolute calm, extinguishing the brain’s neural flashes. The Siliet society despises them, considering them messengers of decay, although it secretly uses their services to rejuvenate the elites.

3. Architects of Illusions (Masters of Absorption)

Unlike the radiant Siliets, the Architects absorb any light falling upon them, being beings made of ideal, velvety darkness. If the Siliets create information with light, then the Architects control its absence.

Abilities: They weave “black ribbons” — zones of absolute visual zero. Inside such a band, the lumenera stops working. For an ordinary resident of the Echosphere, entering such an area is like going blind and deaf at the same time while remaining fully conscious. This causes panic comparable to sensory deprivation.

Society: Architects live in Nultenia — an underground metropolis where the only source of navigation is smell. Their streets are paved with spongy moss that absorbs other people’s emotion‐glows, allowing Architects to literally walk through the memories of passers‐by. They act as the shadow government of the world, trading in oblivion: a high‐ranking Silhouette can come to them to erase a shameful act from the Tapestry of Silkworms, paying in return with a part of their color palette forever.

4. Deep‐Sea Jellyfish (Bioluminescent Riffs)

Inhabitants of the Sea of Frozen Storms. Since water dampens even the most powerful light bursts, evolution has taken the path of creating huge (whale‐sized) colonies of symbiotic organisms.

Communication: They communicate by changing the viscosity of the water around them. This is the only people who use something akin to sound — hydro‐impulses, which other races perceive as slow, diverging circles of pressure on the skin.

Interaction: Jellyfish drift near the surface of the frozen ocean, serving as beacons for the airships of the Sielites. In return, the travelers drop off to them excess solid light (burnt‐out magical batteries), which the Jellyfish feed on. Jellyfish meat is edible, but dangerous: Anyone who eats it begins to involuntarily broadcast their dreams outward in vivid, uncontrollable flashes for a month.

5. Glassblowers (Ethereal Artisans)

Translucent creatures consisting of supercooled gas held in place by internal pressure. They live high in the stratosphere, clinging to floating basaltic islands.

Byt: The gas they exhale instantly hardens upon contact with sudden bursts of emotion. The glassblower‐poet creates fragile sculptures of his emotions with just a breath.

Economy: They are monopolists in the production of “light traps” — spherical weapons and tools capable of capturing an opponent’s flash, compressing it inside glass, and ejecting it back after minutes or hours. Due to the thin air, their flash‐voices reach the ground with a huge delay, so the speeches of their ambassadors look like a disjointed, belated multicolored salute.

Social hierarchy of races

The world is clearly divided according to spectral value:

The Golden and White Spectrum (Silhouettes, Crystals): aristocracy, politicians, military. Possession of pure, directed light is considered a sign of power.

The Spectrum of Complex Patterns (Silkworms, Architects): clergy, bank.

🌳 Tree Siphons (Radiant Wombs)

These are precisely the creatures that fit perfectly into the world of the Echosphere. They are called “tree” because of their outward resemblance to trees and their immobility, but in reality, they are living organisms possessing consciousness.

Appearance: They resemble giant trees with a massive trunk and a dense crown, as shown in your image. But instead of ordinary bark, they have a dense, translucent shell through which the pulsating core of the lumenery is visible. The branches are not covered with leaves, but with glowing appendages that resemble crystalline threads or tentacles. These threads can change color and shape depending on the emotions of the Tree Siphon: when they are happy, they shimmer with all the colors of the spectrum, and when they are sad, they become dull and matte.

Mode of existence: Radiant Matriarchs live by absorbing light and earth vibrations. They have no fixed habitat; they constantly migrate around the world, moving slowly at a speed of several meters per day. Local residents often notice traces of their movement — streaks of darkened soil and a strange texture of stones left after contact with their roots.

The secret of reproduction: The most astonishing property of these creatures is that they can actually become pregnant by any living organism. This happens through the process of “light fertilization”. When a creature passes by the Tree Siphon, its emotional surge (lumenica) penetrates the core of the tree. If this surge is sufficiently intense and harmonious, it can cause conception.

Inside the trunk, a fruit forms — a small, glowing embryo that gradually grows, feeding on the energy of the mother’s body. After several months, the fruit matures and leaves the tree in the form of a small, glowing sphere (Luminosphere). This sphere seeks out its genetic parent by following the traces of its lumenic imprints. Having found its owner, the Lumisphere attaches itself to them and becomes a permanent companion, reflecting the owner’s emotions in the shape and colour of its glow.

Role in society: The inhabitants of the Echosphere know about the existence of Tree Siphons only through rumours. The few who have encountered them either keep it secret in order to preserve their unique lumisphere companion, or they tell about it as if it were a scary tale. Among the Silets, there are legends about “vampire trees” that steal souls, although in reality, these creatures simply collect the echoes of others’ emotions to perpetuate their lineage.

Features of interaction: For the Thunder‐Voiced, the Tree Siphons are sacred creatures, as they are capable of perceiving the vibrations of the lithosphere directly. Some Thunder‐Voiced people make pilgrimages to the places where the Siphons are believed to live, hoping to receive a blessing in the form of a companion. The Silkworms consider them a curse, as their presence distorts the patterns of the Tapestry of Memory, creating mysterious, shimmering spots.

These creatures add an element of mystery and magic to the world of the Echosphere—magic that is not based on spells, but on the very nature of the world’s existence. 🧬

🌿 Tree Siphons: Radiant Mothers

In the world of Echosfera, these creatures are not just trees, but ancient guardians of life. Many of them take the form of girls with unique features.

✨ Appearance and characteristics

Form: Their bodies resemble slender women with long hair‐branches or vines, which can be either green or shimmering with all the colors of the lumineka spectrum. The trunks of their bodies are covered with translucent bark, through which a pulsating core of light can be seen.

Skin: Instead of skin, they have a smooth, silky membrane resembling parchment or a thin layer of crystal. It can change texture depending on emotions: when happy, it becomes smooth and shiny; when sad, it becomes covered with cracks that resemble a frosty pattern.

Eyes: Some individuals have glowing lenses instead of eyes, capable of absorbing and reflecting the emotions of the creatures around them. Others, however, have “eyes” that are deep depressions filled with shimmering liquid that reacts to earth vibrations (which the Thunderous especially appreciate).

Roots: The root system extends outward, forming something akin to skirts or cloaks made of intertwined fibers. These roots are capable of moving slowly across the ground, allowing the creature to migrate at a speed of several meters per day.

⚠️ The mystery of interaction

The most astonishing property of these creatures is that they can actually make contact with other beings, even if those beings are not aware of it.

“Sleeping Under a Tree”

This is a common legend among adventurers and travelers. A weary traveler finds a beautiful tree with a dense crown, lies down under it, and falls asleep. At that moment, synchronization occurs. The tree, which has taken on the form of a girl, gently embraces the sleeping person with its vine‐like branches, absorbing their emotional energy through sleep. This does no harm; on the contrary, many wake up rested and inspired, but they often have strange dreams about someone whispering in their ear without words.

If the synchronization was deep and harmonious, a fruit begins to form inside the tree — a Lumisphere. When it matures, it leaves the mother’s body and seeks its parent to become a companion.

Cases of “fertilization”

Although the word “slept” sounds anthropomorphic, in the context of the Echosphere it means a deep emotional connection during sleep. Such cases are rare, but they do occur:

Travelers, weary after a long journey, find shelter under an ancient tree and spend the night there in a state of complete peace and harmony.

Young Silkworms sometimes deliberately seek out such creatures to create unique fragments of the Tapestry of Memory, weaving their threads with their light.

Illusion Architects use this feature to create living traps: they disguise themselves as ordinary trees to absorb overly bright flashes of other people’s emotions.

For most inhabitants of the world, this remains nothing more than campfire stories. But for those few who have seen a radiant companion emerge from the trunk of an ancient tree, this becomes the most сокровенным secret. 🧬✨
