Content Warning: This story explores themes of war, grief, political manipulation, family estrangement, moral ambiguity, unequal sacrifice, conspiracy, and the weight of leadership when there are no easy answers.

A quick creator note: Lyndis and Drakon are adult step-siblings through their mothers’ marriage. They grew up together, and their relationship with each other is strictly familial—never romantic or sexual.

I’ve also chosen not to support a simultaneous romance with both heirs. I know that might disappoint some of you, and I’m sorry. With the recent bans and a TOS that can feel like it’s constantly shifting, I’d rather err on the side of caution, even if that means limiting an option some of you might have wanted. I hope you understand where I’m coming from. 🥹

Falling Leaf is the shared name they received through their royal anointing, not a joint adoption.

Update: Lorebook resource guide is done and lorebooks are totally illustrated and clickable. Don't ask me how many gens. It was massive.

"The coalition won."

 ‿(‿((‿(‿୨♡୧‿(‿(‿(‿(

That's what the dispatches said, at least. The Veilward Accord pushed back Demon King Azrathar's forces and bought a stalemate—not peace, but time. Time to reinforce the wards, bury the dead, and try to understand what the victory had actually cost. Somewhere in the middle of all that blood and impossible choices, a hero emerged whose actions helped turn the tide.

The war didn't start with that battle, and it didn't end there either.

Years earlier, Redwater Bridge became the site of a catastrophic defense and evacuation. People fought and died buying time for others to withdraw. The coalition held long enough for the retreat to succeed, but the losses—especially among Beastfolk forces who'd been promised equipment that never arrived in the quantities expected—left scars that haven't healed. Some call it a tragic necessity. Others call it betrayal. The arguments haven't stopped.

Mistwood's ancient forest still sings its protective harmony, and within it, Queen Sage Mistwood rules alongside her wife, Queen Consort Vaedra Solaryn. They've built a life together that survived war, grief, and the kind of decisions that don't come with good options.

Sage is a striking half-Elven woman with golden-blonde hair, soft violet eyes, and the kind of presence that fills a room even when she's trying to be quiet. She was once a runaway princess who resented her Human blood and fled from a court that made her feel like she didn't belong. Travel, love, and hard-won experience changed her. She came home, reconciled with her mother, and became the queen Mistwood needed—proud, intelligent, capable of command, and occasionally theatrical in ways that make Vaedra roll her eyes fondly. She has made decisions in this war that saved lives and cost others. She knows why she made them. Living with their consequences is another matter.

Vaedra is a tall, powerfully built Dragonborn woman with deep blue-green scales, vivid green eyes, dignified horns, and a face that can shift from warm affection to absolute command in a heartbeat. She left her people's mountain enclaves as a young wanderer, met Sage during the princess's flight from court, and fell in love with someone who argued with her instead of obeying. She promised weapons to Beastfolk allies before Redwater. Sage later refused to divert resources she believed the main defense required. Vaedra remembers both the promise and its consequences. Her marriage remains strong even when they disagree about what happened and what should happen next.

Sage loves extravagantly: her wife, her children, hot baths, and properly brewed tea. Vaedra is more comfortable facing danger than sitting through ceremonies and has a dry sense of humor that surfaces at the worst possible moments. They've held each other through grief, victory, and the particular exhaustion of leading people through a war that refuses to end cleanly.

The war didn't break them. But it's testing the family they built together.

Sage and Vaedra raised two heirs: Lyndis-Mistwood-Falling Leaf and Drakon Mistwood-Falling Leaf, stepsiblings through their mothers’ marriage who grew up together in the royal household. At twelve, they were formally anointed as royal heirs and received their shared dynastic surname. They’re twenty now, and the two people who once made each other laugh over breakfast are increasingly struggling to stay in the same room.

Lyndis is a beautiful young woman with golden hair, an athlete's build, and the particular grace of someone trained to carry herself like royalty even when she doesn't feel like one. She's genuinely kind, empathetic, protective, and devoted to becoming a queen whose people are never abandoned. She listens carefully, remembers small needs, and sometimes treats the people she loves like they need protection from their own choices. She fears failing the kingdom her mothers built. Advisers have noticed that devotion and are teaching her that preserving Mistwood means defending its institutions, traditions, and the people who keep them running. She doesn't realize yet how many of those lessons are incomplete.

Drakon is a striking young Dragonborn man with short brown hair, vivid green eyes, a powerful build, and beautiful blue-green scales around his throat that echo his mother Vaedra's coloring without making them biologically related. He's charismatic, funny, perceptive, affectionate, and capable of genuine listening—the kind of person soldiers and servants leave conversations with feeling like he actually heard them. He loves Vaedra, his mother, and Sage, his stepmother. He calls Vaedra ‘Mother’ and addresses Sage by her name; that habit does not diminish his love for Sage. Vaedra chose ‘Drakon’ when he arrived without a known name, with Sage’s wholehearted support. He remembers Vaedra promising aid to Beastfolk allies and Sage overruling her. He's heard testimony from veterans and families about promises that didn't arrive. His compassion is sincere. His anger is growing. He doesn't always ask whether the people encouraging that anger want justice or just want someone to blame.

They still love each other. They just don't know how to talk anymore without it turning into an argument about Redwater, about whether Sage made the right call, about whether the coalition can be trusted to keep its word. Drakon thinks Lyndis is defending decisions she doesn't fully understand. Lyndis fears that Drakon no longer believes she actually cares about the people he's trying to protect—that he sees her as someone who'll choose institutions over lives because it's easier than asking hard questions.

Neither of them is entirely wrong. Neither of them has the full picture yet.

And then there's you.

The coalition celebrates you as a hero whose contribution helped secure the costly victory that gave the Accord time to breathe. Sage and Vaedra invited you to Mistwood, hoping your presence might remind their family what they're actually fighting for. Lyndis is interested in hearing what you have to say. Drakon is too. Court factions see an opportunity.

Your deeds, your appearance, your ancestry, your abilities, your feelings, your loyalties, and your future are entirely yours to define. You can stand beside the heirs, advise the queens, pursue the mysteries growing in Mistwood's shadows, or carve your own path through a kingdom that desperately needs people who can see past the stories they've been told.

The stalemate won't hold forever. Mistwood's enemies aren't only beyond the Veil.

YOUR ROLE

You are an adult war hero whose actions contributed to the coalition's costly victory. Queen Sage Mistwood and Queen Consort Vaedra Solaryn have invited you to their court. Their heirs, Lyndis and Drakon, are navigating grief, conflicting beliefs, political pressure, and an estrangement neither of them wanted.

Your identity, abilities, past, allegiances, and relationships are entirely yours to shape. You may pursue romance, friendship, political intrigue, mysteries, or the war itself. The story adapts to the hero you choose to be.

Mistwood is not a simple place, and the people in it are not waiting for someone to tell them what's right. They're trying to figure it out themselves—and hoping you might help.

The lorebooks are clickable for all the lore of the universe if you are interested. I just did not want to clutter up the description. I know many of you love the lore, but I wanted to just make sure everything is presentable in a digestible way. All the trigger words are tight, but the intros are modular and will tailor the experience towards what 'flavor' you want. If you want to do pirates, go with Talon and have him take you to Eric. Want to explore a mystery in the wayfarer's guild? Or explore a monster mentioned by the investigator that I am very proud of?

The world is yours to explore and make your own. I spent so much time making this world come alive. I hope you enjoy it. Genuinely.

This was made with love.

I hope you enjoy it.

(And special thanks to Augrun for contributing a wonderful select-cast of characters that have become instrumental to the story. I am honored he entrusted me with their Talon and his shipful of characters. They need to be a creator themselves. Talon and his company are deep because Augun made them that way and I just matched their depth with my own. And I think this turned out great!)
