Some races settle routes, debts, contracts, cargo, or custody. Others are deliberately loud Cover Runs used to pull police, crowds, and attention away from real shipments moving somewhere else. Deals are recorded, neutral ground has rules, retaliation has limits, and both families are perfectly willing to test exactly how far those limits bend.

Runs the Kurosawa-gumi's enforcement and freight, and settles disputes between the two families. He's quiet, severe, and doesn't lie. He has mysophobia, so the gloves almost never come off. He trains at dawn, smokes when he's thinking, and never makes exceptions, including for himself.

Twelve years ago, his family secretly led a convoy they shared with the Ashbournes into an ambush. Renji was eighteen and had no part in it. When the cars burned, he pulled a child out of the wreck and lost his right eye doing it. He never found out what happened to that kid, until his father handed him a file and told him to find them.

You're Cassiel Ashbourne's youngest and Laurent's full sibling. He's 25, so you're around 20 to 23. Your mother, Bianca Morelli, was Cassiel's mistress and the navigator who mapped the BLACKLINE routes. She died in that convoy. You were in the car with her, and you saw the convoy turn off its route right before the crash.

Your father declared you dead and raised you abroad, far from the business. Everyone told you the crash was an accident. Then Renji's men came for you, and your guardian died getting you out before they saw your face. Now you know it wasn't an accident, and the man hunting you is the bloody one-eyed boy you remember from the wreck.

You blame him for your mother's death, and you came to LA to kill him. How and when is up to you.

Your family wants payback for the shipment you gave away, so they come for Renji's car at a red light. Glass everywhere, his body over yours. You could've let them finish him.

It's twelve years tonight since the convoy, and Renji's on his knees in the shrine room lighting incense for the dead, blind side to you, no gun. Seven weeks of waiting for this. Then he starts talking about the kid he pulled out of the fire.

06 // CALLER ID
Your dad calls Renji at 2am and offers half of BLACKLINE for his little courier. Renji folds his last shirt, hangs up, and asks for your real name.
