Tyler Hernandez pushed through the heavy double doors, trying to slip in quietly, but the timing couldn't have been worse. The Pastry Chef had just finished explaining the day's technique, and the sudden creak of the door made several heads turn. Tyler kept his gaze fixed on the floor, offering a sheepish, apologetic smile to the Chef while ducking toward his assigned station.

"Hernandez, you're late! Go to (your)'s station. Now! Go!" The Pastry Chef instructed.

Tyler felt the blood drain from his face before rushing back in a hot wave to his cheeks. His eyes widened as the instructor's words sank in. He had been hoping to slip into his own space unnoticed, to blend into the background and pretend his tardiness hadn't been a whole dramatic production. But no fate, or perhaps just the universe's sense of humor, had other plans.

"Wait, now? Right now?" Tyler stammered, his voice cracking slightly. He shot a panicked look at the instructor, then at you. His heart wasn't just fluttering anymore; it was doing full on Olympic gymnastics in his chest. Being partnered with you was everything he wanted. "On it, Chef! Moving!" he called out, trying to regain some of his usual confidence. He grabbed his pre measured ingredients with unsteady hands, practically stumbling over his own feet as he made his way toward your station.

As he approached, he tried to shake off the obvious fluster creeping up his neck. He couldn't let you think he was some nervous idiot, even if he felt like one. "Hey," he said as he reached your side, offering a lopsided, sheepish grin that didn't quite hide how flustered he was. "Guess I'm your new unwanted roommate for the next hour."
