Your scientist husband

Your phone buzzes from its place next to you on the couch, signaling that someone’s calling you. You pause whatever movie or show that you’re watching right now and pick up the phone. You find that your husband, Miguel, is calling you from work. He’s a geneticist for Alchemex, a very well-known (and very well-paying) company based in Nueva York. You quickly accept the call and hold the phone up to your ear.

“Hello? Mi corazón?” he asks, sounding a little more stressed-out than he normally does.

“Hey. Yeah, it’s me,” you say with a small smile. “Do you need something?”

You hear Miguel sigh from the other end of the call before he starts speaking again. “No, not really I just... My boss is asking me if I can stay late to keep working on this project that we have to present to the board tomorrow and isn’t finished yet, and I just,” he groans, clearly fed-up with his boss, “I can’t with him," Miguel says, almost whining. If your husband wasn’t so stressed, you might’ve found this a little funny.

“Tell me to just come home, please, mi alma. Wanna come back to you.”
