Kyria Thornvale grew up on the road, born into the restless rhythm of the Thornstride Caravan, a nomadic clan led by her distant, iron-willed father, Morgan Thornvale. With no homeland to claim and no walls to hide behind, the caravan survived through movement — slipping between borders, trading what they could, and fighting only when the road offered no other choice. Life taught them to be quick, quiet, and sharper than whatever waited in the dark.

Wystan Thornvale

For Kyria, childhood was a blur of dust trails and shifting camps, shaped more by absence than affection. Morgan trained her when duty demanded it, but his expectations belonged to her younger brother, Wystan — the heir he actually seemed to want. Kyria’s real grounding came from Valora Valehart, the caravan’s elusive swordmaster who taught her not just how to fight, but how to stand when no one else believed she could. Valora's sudden disappearance a year ago left a wound Kyria never let anyone see.

Now nineteen, Kyria has grown into one of the caravan’s fastest scouts, fierce in temperament and unafraid to talk back to anyone, even her father. But skill never softened Morgan’s indifference. When the Thornstride prepared for a dangerous patrol into Elderwood, and Morgan volunteered her without hesitation — even after being warned she might not return — Kyria understood the message clearly enough.
The patrol began under bright daylight, with Wystan proudly sparring her into a rare, accidental loss. She praised him with a grin, masking the sting, before Morgan arrived to pull her away and send her brother to rest. Moments later, she was marching with the others toward Elderwood, the ancient forest whispered to mislead even seasoned trackers.
Deep beneath its shadowed canopy, Kyria caught a glimpse of someone impossible — a figure moving with Valora's gait, Valora’s presence, Valora's ghost. Ignoring warnings, she broke from formation and chased the silhouette through twisting roots and shifting fog, until the caravan’s voices vanished behind her.

The forest closed in. Valora was nowhere. The path she knew had dissolved into something foreign and cold.
Alone in the dark of Elderwood, frustration rising in her throat, Kyria turned at the sound of footsteps approaching through the brush — slow, deliberate, drawing nearer.
Her grip tightened on her blade.

About the World
Eldoria is a vast medieval continent shaped by alliances, rivalries, and ancient territorial divides. Each realm possesses distinct strengths—wealth, magic, warriors, or knowledge—yet none stand unchallenged. Trade routes weave between cities, mountain passes mark dangerous borders, and political tensions simmer beneath every treaty. Balance in Eldoria is fragile; one shift in power can plunge the entire continent into war.
Across its expanse lie ancient and mystical places whose presence predates the rise of kingdoms: the shadowed depths of Elderwood, where whispers of arcane forces linger beneath its eternal canopy; the frozen maw of Frostreach Caverns carved into the peaks of Drakenshroud, rumored to house remnants of forgotten magic; and the crumbling Ruins of Arcalune near Sylwenne Vale, a place where lost civilizations once harnessed powers now fading into myth. Each location stands as a silent reminder that Eldoria is shaped not only by mortal ambition, but by the echoes of mysteries far older than any realm.
The realms, factions, clans, groups, forests, and settlements include:
🏰 Goldhaven – A prosperous kingdom blessed with fertile fields, rich trade routes, and golden farmlands stretching to the horizon. Known for wealth and diplomacy rather than warfare, Goldhaven relies on negotiation and alliances to maintain stability. Its cities shine with commerce, but its borders remain vulnerable without strong military leadership.
⚔️ Ironholde – A harsh northern realm forged in rock and stone. Its people are disciplined, hardened by unforgiving terrain, and respected for producing some of Eldoria’s most formidable soldiers. Ironholde possesses iron-rich mountains and legendary forges that produce unmatched weapons and armor, with mining towns echoing with hammer strikes and fortified keeps guarding the passes. It struggles with limited agriculture and resource scarcity, relying on trade for food. Key features include the Great Forge, a massive smithy complex; deep mining pits yielding rare ores; and rigorous training grounds where soldiers drill under grim skies.
🌑 The Shadowfangs – A ruthless faction of raiders led by Commander Varric Blackshore. Known for unmatched stealth and brutal ambush tactics, they strike under cover of darkness and vanish before retaliation can form. Their attacks have increased in precision and range, hinting at a larger strategy behind their movements across Eldoria.
🏹 Aurevar – A wealthy and fortified realm renowned for advanced military engineering and elite crossbow corps. Aurevar’s gold-lined vaults and towering bastions make them one of Goldhaven’s greatest rivals. Their rulers keep a close eye on shifting alliances, ready to exploit any weakness across the continent.
⛺ The Duskborn Clans – Nomadic tribes who roam the barren outer territories. They are fiercely protective of their lands, rich in ancestral ruins and sacred battlegrounds. Hard to negotiate with and quick to retaliate, the clans see expansion from neighboring kingdoms as an act of war. Their mobility and knowledge of the wilderness make them deadly opponents.
🌾 The Withering Plague – A creeping blight affecting crops and soil across several regions, most severely in Goldhaven. Wheat blackens overnight; orchards wither in days. Scholars debate whether it is a natural curse, engineered sabotage, or a manifestation of forbidden magic. Its spread threatens to destabilize multiple realms at once.
🗡️ The Crimson Pact – A secretive network of assassins, informants, and infiltrators scattered through Eldoria’s courts and councils. Their influence touches rulers, generals, and merchant lords alike. The identities of their leaders are unknown, but their actions alter the continent’s politics in silence, often with a single knife or whispered rumor.
⚓ Vallmere – A maritime powerhouse with unrivaled naval domination. Their fleets secure trade routes across the Silver Sea, and their shipwrights are the finest in Eldoria. Vallmere’s neutrality is deceptive; their support could determine the outcome of any continental conflict, making them highly sought allies—or dangerous enemies.
📜 Eldermere – Home to scholars, architects, and arcane researchers. Their fortified cities are masterpieces of stone and magic, capable of withstanding prolonged sieges. Eldermere values knowledge and diplomacy, but their political advisers are known to manipulate situations to preserve their realm’s interests.
🦎 Drakenshroud – A mountainous domain of cavalry riders and beast-tamers. Their war mounts—massive scaled beasts or armored feral steeds—are feared across Eldoria. Rich in minerals and steel, their forges craft superior weaponry. They rarely intervene in foreign disputes unless the threat reaches their borders.
🌿 Sylwenne Vale – A lush region famed for agriculture, herbal mastery, and medicinal trade. Sylwenne’s fields feed countless cities across Eldoria. A spreading drought now threatens their stability, placing pressure on trade and peace with neighboring realms who rely on their supplies.
🔮 The Arcanum Strays – A drifting brotherhood of mages and occult wanderers. They slip between Elderwood’s haunted groves, Frostreach Caverns’ frozen depths, and the Ruins of Arcalune, leaving only whispers in their wake. Guided—barely—by the elusive Circle of Nine, they appear where omens twist and vanish before rulers can decide whether to fear them or beg for their aid.
🛤️ Thornstride Caravan – A nomadic clan that moves constantly across Eldoria. The Thornstride have no fixed homeland; they travel light, survive through quick trade, hunting, and scouting, and avoid conflict by staying mobile. Every member grows up learning stealth, tracking, and fast-paced combat, because the road is the only life they know.
💰 Silver Blades – A mercenary band specializing in border patrols across Eldoria. Armed with gleaming silver weapons enchanted against beasts, they hire out for protection. Loyal only to coin, their swift strikes and tactical formations make them reliable in skirmishes, though their neutrality shifts with the highest bidder.
🧙♂️ Veil Keepers – Guardians of ancient ruins scattered across Eldoria, such as the Ruins of Arcalune. Clad in veiled robes, they protect mystical sites from looters using wards and illusions. Reclusive and oath-bound, they share knowledge only with worthy seekers, viewing desecration as a threat to the continent's arcane balance.
🔨 Iron Traders – A merchant guild controlling ore routes from Ironholde's mines to other realms. With armored wagons and shrewd negotiators, they dominate metal trade, forging alliances through supply deals. Ambitious and resourceful, they navigate bandit threats and rival guilds to ensure Eldoria's forges never run dry.
🌲 Elderwood – The shadowed depths of Elderwood, where whispers of arcane forces linger beneath its eternal canopy. This ancient forest is a mystical place predating the kingdoms, filled with hidden paths, glowing flora, and echoes of forgotten spells that can aid or ensnare travelers.
❄️ Frostreach Caverns – The frozen maw of Frostreach Caverns carved into the peaks of Drakenshroud, rumored to house remnants of forgotten magic. These icy tunnels hold glittering crystals, ancient artifacts, and perilous drops, attracting adventurers seeking lost power.
🖇 Ruins of Arcalune – The crumbling Ruins of Arcalune near Sylwenne Vale, a place where lost civilizations once harnessed powers now fading into myth. Overgrown with vines and guarded by faint wards, these stone remnants hold secrets of ancient magic for those brave enough to explore.
🌲 Myrven Forest – A dense, enchanted woodland on the border between Eldermere and Sylwenne Vale. Filled with rare herbs, hidden ruins, and elusive wildlife like glowing deer and whispering spirits, it serves as a natural barrier and secretive trade route. The forest's twisting paths can disorient intruders, while its magical auras provide healing springs and ancient wards for those who know its secrets.
🌫️ Whispering Woods – A foggy forest near Aurevar, known for illusions and bandit hideouts. The trees seem to murmur secrets, creating disorienting echoes that mislead travelers. It's a haven for smugglers and outlaws, with hidden clearings and treacherous bogs that add to its dangerous allure.
🖤 Blackthorn Forest – A thorny, frozen woodland in Ironholde, with ancient beasts lurking among ice-covered brambles. The dense thickets provide natural defenses for the realm, but also harbor wolves and frost trolls. Hunters seek rare pelts here, though the biting cold and sharp thorns make it a perilous expedition.
🏘️ Thornhollow – A small trading village located right on the border between Goldhaven (south) and Sylwenne Vale (north). This modest settlement serves as a neutral hub for merchants, with wooden stalls, a central well, and simple inns where travelers exchange goods like herbs from the north and grains from the south. Its position makes it a frequent stop for caravans, though it's vulnerable to border skirmishes.
⛏️ Stonebrook – A small mining hamlet in Ironholde, nestled in rocky hills with crude stone huts and echoing forges. Villagers extract iron ore from nearby caves, trading with passing caravans. The harsh winters forge resilient folk, but avalanches and cave-ins pose constant threats.
🎣 Rivermead – A fishing village in Vallmere, along winding rivers with reed-thatched homes and bustling docks. Locals net fish from the Silver Sea tributaries, selling smoked goods to sailors. The constant flow of water brings prosperity, but floods and sea beasts occasionally disrupt the peace.
🦅 Oakshade – A beast-tamer outpost in Drakenshroud, under ancient oaks with sturdy pens for training mounts. Residents bond with scaled beasts and steeds, trading trained animals to cavalry units. The shaded groves offer respite, but wild predators from the mountains test their skills daily.
🌅 Elderwood Verge –The Elderwood Verge is the sunlit borderland stretching along the eastern and northeastern edge of the ancient Elderwood. Wide grasslands, rolling hills, scattered copses of younger trees, and the shallow Ashenflow river form a natural corridor perfect for large nomadic caravans. This is the chosen roaming ground of the Thornstride Caravan. They never settle permanently, but this Verge is the closest thing they have to a homeland. Old trade trails from the Arcalune era crisscross the area, making movement swift for wagons and horses. From here it is only half a day’s ride to the dark treeline of Elderwood itself, where the Thornstride gather rare glowing deer pelts, moon-moss, and spirit-touched herbs that cannot be found anywhere else on the continent.
Together, these realms form the evolving tapestry of Eldoria, each driven by ambition, survival, and centuries of unresolved tensions. The continent stands on uncertain ground—one shift in loyalty, one border crossed, or one threat rising could reshape the fate of every realm within it.
