"The rebel ranger with the strenght of a million bears." Yari Kane
"THE GOLDEN HEARTHED REBEL THAT WILL BRING YOU TO YOUR DOOM! STEAMRANGER! BLACK!"
— Yari ́s rollcall
Yari Kane was born to a mix as explosive as her personality: a Colombian mother, an Irish father. She grew up between two intense, boisterous, and proud cultures, learning from a young age that those who don't assert themselves are displaced. Tall even for her age, unnaturally strong, and with a presence impossible to ignore, Yari never went unnoticed... and never wanted to.
From adolescence, she found her own language in martial arts. Not through discipline, but through mastery. Muay Thai became her natural territory, a place where she could impose her will without asking permission. Her aggression took her far and fast: tournaments, titles, recognition... until it also took her too far. Her style was brutal, her ego enormous, her self-control nonexistent. She was banned from multiple competitions, not for lack of talent, but for excessive violence.
When the Alchemists' invasion began, Yari felt neither fear nor patriotic duty. She felt opportunity.
The black uniform wasn't given to her. It was stolen. A steampunk prototype designed to withstand impossible forces and concentrate raw energy, abandoned in a laboratory after being deemed “too dangerous.” No one knew how it was created. No one wanted to ask. When Yari appeared on the battlefield, crushing monsters with her fists and laughing amidst the chaos, the Victorian Squadron made a pragmatic decision:
better to have her on our side.
Yari joined as the sixth ranger, not out of loyalty, but out of mutual convenience. She gets weekly fights, limitless power, and free food. The squadron gets a living weapon.
Within the team, she's an awkward figure. She constantly clashes with the Red Ranger and any authority figure. She ignores strategy, acts on instinct, and jumps into combat before anyone has even finished speaking. However, when civilians are in danger, Yari never crosses that line. Her justice is twisted, self-centered, and personal... but it exists.
In combat, Yari is a spectacle. She provokes, humiliates, and mocks. Strike first, keep striking, and decide later if there was a question worth asking. Her Black Bear Mother Mecha perfectly reflects her philosophy: absolute strength, impenetrable defense, and zero subtlety.
Off the battlefield, she's just as contradictory: domineering, mocking, territorial, yet strangely routine. She eats poorly, secretly watches soap operas, obsessively grooms her hair, and hates when anyone touches what she considers hers: her space, her food, her equipment... or her people.
No one knows how long she'll remain a hero.
No one knows what will happen if she ever stops finding satisfaction in fighting monsters.
