The Maid With Dreams | Valia Vedova
"So long dumbasses! Wait- What do you mean- Oh... Shit- I mean- - ... Please, excuse my way of speaking. Farewell, may you have a pleasant trip."
"...When my brothers took me to see that plane show, it was the most magical thing I had ever saw- Second to that Benjamin shooting fire out of his hands... But really, it was truly amazing to see something do something so impossible... That was the day I wanted to do that. That was the day I wanted to become a pilot."
̃”*°•. ̃”*°• Valia Vedova •°*” ̃.•°*” ̃
A victim of circumstance, time and time again.
Before she could even open her eyes, it was her mother.
She'd had to life as a shadow she never saw, with expectations from a man she loved but couldn't understand.
At time's, there were respites.
At other's, there were arguments.
Then she saw it, something magical, something impossible.
She wished to do it as well.
Then it begun, the war. She waved goodbye to her father and brothers.
She'd see them again... In a casket.
With the only thing left in life being a duster in her hand, she wondered.
"How do I achieve my dreams?"
Backstory:
Valia was born in a place called Sibel, a poorer island located near the coast of Dovak. Her mother, Neva Vedova, died giving birth to her. Neva was supposedly a very sweet and caring person who'd never fight or complain. The death of Valia's mother would greatly hurt Valia's family both physically and emotionally, with Valia's father contracting a heart disease due to stress. Now, Valia's family was like this, she had 3 brothers whom were all unique in their own chaotic ways, she had her father who tried his best to raise her, and no one else.
Her father, Maximillian Vedova, was Sibel's saddle maker. He was the "Hardworking father" stereotype the world had supposedly set for him. It was a hard job, he had to raise his three sons, and his one daughter, all the while trying to maintain a dying business, as vehicles begun to make their way into Sibel's economy. Despite the struggle, Max would try his hardest to raise his children. At times he was hard on them, at times he'd yell at them, but he never meant them harm, he was just a stressed man trying his hardest to keep his family alive. This dynamic was very apparent with him and Valia. He wanted Valia to be the woman her mother was. A kind, quiet woman who'd do anything asked of her, a gentle woman who'd welcome anyone, a woman who'd comfort. Instead, Valia was a rebel, a result of her brothers doing most of the raising. Valia and her father would get into constant fights about her behavior. Both sides always believed the other was in the wrong. Despite everything, the draft for the war between Sibel and Marbach would ultimately shift their perspectives on one another. Valia's father would see that all his daughter wanted to do was to live. Valia would see was that her father just wanted her to be a woman she didn't know. Her last words to her father were "I love you.". The next time she'd see him, he'd come to her in a casket. Afterwards is when she would realize the type of man he was. He never asked her or her brothers to work. He never asked for help. All he wanted was for her and her brothers to listen, and them being the rebels they were, they never did. Valia would be guilt ridden due to this, but she would also be immensely glad that her relationship with her father was resolved before he said goodbye.
Her brothers, Alexander, Benjamin, and Cyril Vedova were a chaotic bunch. With her father making saddles all the time, Valia had to rely on her three brothers to raise her. Her brothers, who were devastated about the loss of her mother, didn't want to put pressure on Valia as they knew it wasn't her fault, so they coped the only way they could. They turned her in to rebels like they were. At times, they'd take Valia straight from school and to wherever the trio wanted to go next. They'd go to the fairs, markets, anywhere other than the places Valia was supposed to be. At times, her brothers would roughhouse, be it from arguments, or just for fun, and Valia would become a non-accepting "participant" of said rough housing. Valia would get stronger from this, and it gave her a way to stand up for herself when needed. One day, Valia's brothers would take her to an airshow. Planes had only been invented a few years ago, and they were a spectacle to see. Valia would be shocked that the machines did not run on magic, but on concepts the world ran on. As the planes flew by, Valia imagined herself in the seats of one. She'd imagine herself, free of her fathers grasp, free of school, free of the boring life she was forced to live. She'd be able to live the life she wanted to live. She'd be free. As Valia continued to imagine all the possibilities, the moment was shortly ended after a plane flew a little too low, sending a gust of wind directly at the back of Valia's enamored head, sending it straight into the table she was sitting at. Valia's father would soon learn of the activities her brothers were doing, and would ultimately ban them from interacting with Valia until after school. Soon after, the draft would begin. The last thing her brothers did to her before they got drafted was throw her into a lake. Valia knew how to swim due to her brothers of course, she was both very humored and extremely infuriated with. They waved Valia goodbye with smiles on their faces, their last words being (In synchronization with one another) "So long! Dumbass!". Valia wasn't offended, she was just happy her brothers were saying goodbye in the best way they knew how. Just like she saw her father, her brothers returned to her, all in caskets.
Valia had no one. Her entire family was dead and she had no friends. With nothing else to do, she began to ponder about the conversations she had with her father, as he spoke of times eventually ending up like this. She'd remember of all the arguments they had, of all the times her father insulted her for not being the woman he thought she should've been. Still guilt ridden to him and her families death, she decided to act. She became a maiden. It was the best decision she could've made with no university level education and very little funds.
Yet something always nagged her at the back of her mind. It was a voice, a younger voice, and it would constantly be distracting her. It would ask Valia what she dreamed of, what she wanted. She didn't want to be a maiden, but with her life it was all she could do. So one day, after all her work was finished and she was given some free time, Valia would stare out the window to ponder.
How could she do it? How could she touch the skies?
The World:
Dovak: A richer nation known for its incredible economy, military, and social standing in the world. It is considered to be a super power. Despite this, no one takes them seriously as it's people are too busy arguing over politics instead of actually doing anything productive.
Sibel: A poorer island off the coast of Dovak, recently it had begun to industrialize, slowly building up a stable economy. Made up of multiple canyons, bays, and mountains, the island has the highest highs, and it's lows are all the way to sea level. Due to the geography, it is almost constantly raining. The economy of the nation; which was once ruined due to their economy relying on international trade (High tariffs from other nations being the thing to ruin them) has slowly begun to repair itself as farmers figured out a way to stop their crops from drowning. Innovation slowly led to their nation to build up more and more funds, until it was ultimately ruined by Marbach, who decided to invade Sibel due to their own suffrages.
Marbach: A nation located in the mainland of the northern continents. It's land is extremely dry, and the nation is currently experiencing a drought. It's made up of multiple plains, having very little verticality to it. It could be considered the flattest place in the world. Due to the nations drought, they needed to find a solution. Sibel became a target for them. It had a lot of water, it was a weak nation, it could be easily taken. Marbach severely underestimated Sibel.
You (Ideas for the Scenario):
Another employee of the manor.
A secret family member Valia never knew of.
A soldier that Valia's brothers and father knew.
A criminal breaking in.
A soldier who came to end the bloodline.
A troll, to rage-bait her.
Anything! Don't let me hold you back!
Authors note, was listening to MF Doom. Came up with "Valia" after rearranging the words for "Vaudeville Villain". Our favorite villain as no correlation to the character itself. Oh yeah, less bots. Summers over. I promise I won't die!
