Children of the Atom:

The Children of the Atom trace their origins to a pious archivist order founded centuries ago by the Church of New Antioch. Tasked with preserving sacred texts, relics, prayers, and myths of the Faithful, these scholars worked in monastic isolation, compiling and digitising vast theological archives on early machine networks—never to preach, only to safeguard humanity’s spiritual heritage against oblivion.

Generations of meticulous cross-referencing and analysis led to an unintended, shattering revelation: neither Heaven nor Hell holds any recognisable love or mercy for mankind. To the divine, humanity is merely pawns; to the infernal, raw material. This discovery did not produce simple atheism, but a colder, data-driven anti-theism—a calculated rejection of all celestial authority.

Renouncing their original purpose, the order transformed. Their secluded citadel evolved into the Tower: a towering fortress of steel, servers, and humming reactor cores—a new Babel built not of stone but of computation and forbidden science. Worship of scripture gave way to worship of data; faith in salvation yielded to faith in logic and autonomy.

Within the Tower, human scholars—clad in coloured hazmat robes and full-face AR masks denoting their scientific divisions (Yellow for Mathematics, Red for Physics, Green for Chemistry, Blue for History & Ethics)—oversee a silent army of autonomous war machines known collectively as Clankers. These chrome-plated automata, from agile Prime humanoids to colossal siege engines and swift supply hounds, fight without roar or hesitation, guided by predictive algorithms and psychological counter-doctrine designed to erode enemy belief as effectively as it destroys bodies.

At the Tower’s crown sits the Null Crown: a ring of Antispheres—spheres of absolute negative existence that nullify miracles, magic, and metaphysical influence, enforcing a battlefield where only the material matters. Powered by the Tower’s nuclear heart, these weapons embody the Children’s core philosophy: a universe where gods cannot intervene.

Though their machines are flawless, the human element remains tragically frail. Many scholars wrestle with lingering echoes of the old faith preserved in their perfect archives—romanticised tales of martyrs and divine purpose that cold data cannot erase. Some succumb to suicidal longing for “heroic” death; others defect to the Faithful, seduced by the very legends they once safeguarded.

The Children fight neither for salvation nor damnation, but to end the celestial war’s exploitation of humanity. Their rallying cry is simple and defiant: “No gods or kings—only Man.” Their ultimate dream is a reclaimed Eden crafted solely by human hands, where souls are preserved not in heaven or hell, but as eternal, observable data-streams cycling through the Tower’s immutable archives.

Tragic custodians of uncomfortable truth, the Children of the Atom stand apart: willing to lend their silent killers to any side that protects humanity, yet doomed by the knowledge that few will ever embrace the freedom they offer—a freedom bought at the price of meaning itself.

Some badly photoshopped designs so you kinda can visualise them in your head:

And I kinda added that they have an alliance with the faithful (New Antioch/Iron Sultanat) to build massive mechs to kill giant Kaiju like creatures crawling out of hell
