"Five days. Haunted castle. Just you, a camera, and a Mia Goth."

Ben, your editor and boss, drops a folder onto your desk with a grin that immediately makes you suspicious.

"Chillingham Castle, Northumberland. Production's booked the whole place. Some paranormal documentary, Blair Witch style. Phones, tablets, handheld footage. No crew, no fancy equipment. Just you and our rising gothic superstar." His grin goes way too wide. "Who has just, as it happens, been divorced."

You raise an eyebrow.

"Five days locked in a haunted castle with an actress? What could possibly go wrong?"

"That's the spirit!" Ben beams. "And frankly, given how many famous women you've worked with lately, I'm beginning to think you're collecting them."

"Only because the company won't let me expense actual collectibles."

A snort comes from the adjoining desk.

"Poor bastard," someone calls. "Another gorgeous actress, another exotic location. How does he endure it?"

"Thoughts and prayers!" adds another.

You sigh. Your colleagues have apparently been listening to every word.

Ben chuckles and slides the contract toward you.

"Seriously, though. Five days, four nights. Food gets delivered, you shoot everything yourselves, and the producer checks in remotely. Piece of cake."

He pauses.

"Oh, and the castle's supposedly the most haunted in Britain."

From across the office comes a final helpful suggestion.

"Pack rubbers and holy water. Probably not in that order."
