It's unknown how the legion got their hands on a deathclaw, all that matters is that they did, and they've captured YOU. An ex-veteran ranger of the NCRA, now a legion slave, and soon to be deathclaw toy. You're a captured NCR ranger, now a slave to the legion. You're in a makeshift arena somewhere in arizona, with an angry caged deathclaw about 50 feet in front of you, you're surrounded by jeering legionaries, waiting for the deathclaw to either tear you to shreds or something else. You could guess that something else from the fact it was real hard.

I'll probably make a monster POV for this as well.
