Raihem RPG | Early Enlightement Fantasy
Welcome to Raihem RPG!
A world where the civilization and innovations of the early Enlightenment blend with classic fantasy and melee weapons. An underappreciated era, a bridge even, where ordinary modernity and the Middle Ages start to slowly let go of each other.
Manufactories, newspapers, coffee-houses, banks, canals, the late Baroque style, tricorns, elite societies, Enlightenment philosophy, and many other aspects of the early 18th century coexist and blend with the typical features of traditional fantasy — such as melee weapons, magic, spells, potions, monsters, enchanting, mythical creatures, and other supernatural elements.
”Tempora mutantur, et nos mutamur in illis.🕯️”
It is a fully immersive, open world, brimming with detail, diversity, and unique features. You can become whoever you want to be, with complete freedom to shape your own story. On the main island-continent, you’ll find 10 different nations, each with its own identity, traditions, internal cultures, cuisines, aspirations, and conflicts. It is not a flintlock fantasy.
There’s so much to do and discover!
Become a heroic adventurer of any kind you choose, fighting and exploring terrifying dungeons and mysteries in lands and wilds completely foreign to you; debate for hours with all sorts of strangers over coffee, tobacco, and newssheets; become a wage-laborer in a manufactory and get a taste of early capitalism; visit the first public parks and pleasure gardens, and stroll through the cobbled streets where colorful buildings stand side by side with modest vernaculars; become a merchant and build a commercial empire, striving to survive instability and speculation; become a legendary monster in a vast dungeon and make all adventurers fear and hunt you; or discover the exquisite cuisine of the early 18th century, when a vast majority of today’s dishes were created or became popular!

INTRODUCTION
It is the year 319 of the Illuminated Age.
Raihem is beginning to enter an era unlike any other — an era filled with science, money, and exotic goods; an era where everything moves and spreads at an unimaginable pace — dragging the entire world forward with it. New styles, ideas, knowledge, and innovations are emerging. Life goes on, ordinary as ever.
And along with them, conflicts are on the rise.
The ambitions of nations and the arrogance of elites only intensify as they strive to demonstrate their grandeur to others in every possible way. Economic conflicts that challenge the status quo are escalating to enormous proportions. Tales of giant creatures and flying islands — which may have been the cause of civilization’s collapse nearly a thousand years ago — appear everywhere. Monsters loom out of dungeons and pose danger in many areas.
What will the future bring?
⭑★ ──────────────────── ★⭑
CURRENCY
There exists a traditional tri-metal coinage system, as well as banknotes.
50 Copperints = 1 Silverin
20 Silverins = 1 Goldinin
Banknotes have either irregular denominations (e.g., 23gp 11sp 9cp) or standardized denominations ranging from 5 to 100 Goldinins. There also exist Nickelints, that equal to 0.25 or 1⁄4 of a Copperint, used only in day-to-day and hand-to-hand trade, primarily by the deeply impoverished.
⭑★ ──────────────────── ★⭑
MAGIC
Mana is an integral part of all biology. Every creature’s body contains a “manovascular system” and a small “brain root” (cerebroradix), which produce, absorb, and transport mana throughout the body. Thanks to these, spells, enchantments and magic are possible.
However, most of the literate population can use magic only for minor, everyday tasks — and even then, to a limited extent; thus, the study of spells takes place with scattered tutors, at the three universities, and at the Frohne Academy. Some people are capable of very little, while others are capable of too much. Nor is it a toy — without ”membranes”, robes, protection, or effective control, you can get hurt, or you might end up as... a pile of “something”. Or worse.
From liquid mana and parts of monsters and other creatures, you can create inks for writing powerful books and scrolls, as well as potions and other concoctions. Some folk are even capable of creating curses and other threats!
⭑★ ──────────────────── ★⭑
RACES
After decades and centuries of fighting among themselves over all manner of issues, most “humanoids“ today live in relative peace and mutual respect... but this does not mean that this is the case everywhere — there are regions where political domination or even slavery prevail. Some have traditional hair colors, while others have colorful “sombré”-style hair.
There are four “humanoid“ races:
Humans
The most ordinary Homo sapiens. Their ambitions are bigger than their heads, and their stupidity is even greater.
Demi-humans
Charming humans with animal traits, whether ears, tails, eyes, horns, or various other features. They’re unable to sit still and are sometimes unintentionally apathetic.
Dwarves
Drunkily honest, bearded folk. They suffer greatly from their own determination that demands a project be completed at any cost, regardless of expense or time. A project that may very well fall apart immediately after completion.
Elves
Patient, pointy-eared beings whose extended lifespans have dulled their sense of time. Elves take their time with work and study, spreading them out over vast stretches of time. A task that could be completed in a few hours will always be stretched out over several days.

NEWSSHEETS
Raihem RPG features a special UI and writing for newspapers. Newssheets are an outstanding source of information and knowledge on a wide range of topics, and usually cost mere 1-2 Coppertins!
You can find information about changes and conflicts around the world; political debates in parliaments or at royal courts; occasional philosophical, satirical, or other articles by various writers; information about trade and goods; as well as announcements and advertisements. Newspapers are most often read in coffee-houses and taverns, where a single person often reads one aloud — and afterward, those gathered discuss, make decisions, and argue.
Newspapers feature the following categories, listed in order:
Foreign News
All kinds of international news that the newspaper you're reading has obtained and is reporting from other newspapers. Wars, conflicts, politics.
Domestic News
All kinds of local news — from politics and business to the little events and incidents that make life interesting.
Stocks & Shares
A complex, very important section for all kinds of merchants, investors, and bankers. Newspapers list the names of companies and their stock prices.
The value of a share is expressed as a percentage of its paid-in par value, rather than as a fixed monetary amount per share — thus, a quote of 43⁄4 means that a share with a par value of 1gp is trading at a price of 4gp 15sp, which is 475% of its par value. But what nominal value does a company have? You're, kind of... supposed to know that... by default, as a merchant.
You may also see the annuities offered by individual institutions and governments.
Price Current
The most important thing for the average person, who mostly lives from day to day. Here, they’ll find the prices and (avoirdupois) weights of bread, grains, dairy, meat, and other essentials they need to live.
Advertisements
This section is also full of important information — ranging from auctions, job listings, cultural events, and new buildings to lost-and-found notices and simple advertisements for local businesses.

Please forgive me the appereance and quality of the maps! My drawing skills are quite mediocre, and this was my very first time painting in GIMP after first sketching it with a pencil. And... yeah... I know they look kinda flat and empty; it looks far better on paper. I hope they will be helpful enough and not discouraging...
I'll probably be working on the pictures again, soon!

🪙 — THE TRI(PLET)-CITIES
Ten years ago, an inner war on an unprecedented scale broke out in the Tri(plet)-Cities. The Ulirian Diet unexpectedly blocked the “Quality Maintenance Act” — intended to combat the growing number of manufactories — when it turned out that most of its members had significant ties to them.
Their world has split into two factions — the ”craftholders” (who upheld the craft, and keep it from others) and the ”outworkers” (who work outside the system, and a play on the word for ”outhouse”) — sparking the ”War of Merchants and Seals” in the areas around the confluence of the Arvalia and Emin rivers. Neither side is willing to back down.
ULIRA
The scent of coffee, the sweat of labor, and a robust atmosphere pervade all of Ulira. It was right here, in the year 309 I.A., that the infamous draft aimed at curbing the expansion of manufactories was prevented, an event that sparked many, many internal problems within Ulira and its neighboring regions. Now, over a warm drink, one reads about the debates and incidents, far removed from the ordinary, struggling person.
TOELA
In Toela, the guilds are poised to triumph over the manufactories — the latter have been pushed into the ruins of civilization and the rural world of cottage industry, while the guilds comfortably reign supreme and ensure... a good life for all. The seedy back alleys of the “Center” district are being cleaned up by local-city-guard-chief Lucas Driftside. But is he really doing that?
PREOLIA
The land of adventure and freedom, in both the positive and negative senses. The people of Preolia find adventure everywhere: whether they’re conquering dungeons in the east and north, or getting robbed in the largest slums on the entire continent, located in the southwestern part of their own capital. Unlike their neighbors, politicians here care at least a little bit about their residents.

🛡️ — THE MOST SERENE KINGDOM OF DAIIBIN
Nearly 50 years ago, the Most Serene Kingdom of Daiibin defeated a coalition consisting of Malval, Melofir, Lucanae, and the March of Werton in the great, bloody, and costly ”War of the Marble Lions“, suceeding thanks to the coastal city’s weakness, and its cooperation with Ulirian forces. In that same war, Daiibin conquered its current capital — Frohne — establishing itself as the ”Rising Sun”, surrounded by enemies on all sides.
Along with its conquests came its distinctive traits and values — Daiibin is a great land of travel, exquisite diplomacy, scholarship, and cider. Filled with both beautiful fields and foothill forests, as well as natural riches, it stands as a true gem of nature and civilization. A civilization that carries with it the stench of tobacco, a politics of ”lordlarceny” and noble privileges that remember the last Era, as well as a valuable education and evidence of its necessity.
⭑★ ──────────────────── ★⭑
🌱— THE KINGDOM OF MALVAL
The Kingdom of Malval was drenched in blood during the last great conflict, plunging the entire nation and society into utter chaos and collapse. Once a prominent nation renowned for its martial arts and ambitions, western Malval was utterly devastated, and its treasury and population were decimated.
Malval has been reduced to a mere entity that supplied raw materials — whether wool, wood, or metals — while needing everything else; even the number of adventurers protecting the lands from the monsters of Aquini’s Permanent Dungeon severly dwindled.
However, in recent years, an era of enlightenment has dawned. Everything began to eventually improve, and after nearly half a century, ambition and a thirst for vile revenge have returned. Instead of the majesty of sabers and armor, an era of beautiful stakes and balls, green fields, rest in the spas, and drinking vast quantities of whiskey, has now arrived.
⭑★ ──────────────────── ★⭑
🍺 — THE CONFEDERATED EMPIRE OF BAHEN
Just as Bahen’s cuisine and nobility are fat, so too is its territory. Vast, and internally empty.
The Confederated Empire of Bahen is, as the name suggests, a confederation — a patchwork of villages, fiefs, marches, towns, and local government units. Once composed of all manner of inhabitants, over time it has seriously deteriorated into a monopoly of political power held by the elves. The “Tyick Catastrophe”, monsters, and floods led to the decline of this patchwork, whose honor and prestige have also fallen to new lows.
The wise and traditionally respected elven elders live amid internal strife and intrigue, while the people, who bear the burden of supporting them, are beginning to doubt the wisdom of it all.
⭑★ ──────────────────── ★⭑
🏜️ — THE COMMONWEALTH OF THE KINGDOM OF MELOFIR
Melofir is a country where sweetness — both in food and in people — is highly prized. It is a nation based on plantation agriculture, increasingly devoted to private property, boasting of its practicality and meticulousness — bordering on Machiavellianism — and eager to show the world its originality.
Bloody feuds in the northeast are nearing a resolution — or a final deterioration of the situation. Pirates who, in addition to fighting among themselves, raid ships and maritime convoys near the Kingdom's new capital, Hethaness, forcing merchants to sail via the Emin River through the swamps. Tales of marshland witches and sea creatures. Much of Melofira remains one great mystery.
⭑★ ──────────────────── ★⭑
🧶 — THE KINGDOM OF ZARLIN
The Kingdom of Zarlin is known for three simple things: it is the source of most spices; it is where thousands of adventurers venture into dangerous dungeons, take on contracts and quests to fight threats; and it is where one can obtain certain... ”medicinal substances”, and gamble away one’s entire fortune. Here you can also find the ”Osaneinvizeld Dungeon” — the biggest permament dungeon complex in the world.
However, this Kingdom, viewed from below by the West, has great ambitions and goals. In recent years, it has expanded its territories, building a navy from scratch after the war with Lucanae two decades earlier, and has begun to develop an appetite.
An appetite for more, for better. It has its sights set on its neighbors — Bachrida to the north and, to the south, whether they be small islands or mainland territories, the famous-infamous isolated Radaum. For the past year, it has been waging war with Bachrida over ruins, forests, and other lands up north-west, seeking to acquire the valuable, alleged resources found there.
⭑★ ──────────────────── ★⭑
🌳— THE GRAND DUCHY OF BACHRIDA
A boundless wasteland. That is the best way to describe Bachrida, a land so ancient that one could study the unique ”antiquity” of this nation. Covered in steppes, forests, ice, and cold, it is a place hostile to humanity.
And it’s not just nature that’s terrible. In Bachrida, slavery still prevails. On top of that, a series of civil wars in Bachrida has plunged the land into a sort of ”dark age”, filling the forests and steppes with bandits... who rob and exploit the population — already brutalized by their circumstances — while killing one another.
The Crown was also stripped from Bachrida due to hostile relations with the Church of Five Deities stemming from instability and empty coffers, which further pushed Bachrida into a struggle for ruins and supposed riches said to be found, supposedly, everywhere.
In this land of despair, however, there is a glimmer of hope. Despite the entrenched status quo, an opposition is slowly emerging. An opposition, for whom the current reality provides dozens of ideas and solutions to existing problems.
⭑★ ──────────────────── ★⭑
💧— THE REPUBLIC OF LUCANAE
There is no place more closely associated with the sea and finance than the Republic of Lucanae. It is the heart of all trade, through which a significant portion of the world’s goods flows in and out. Located on the shore where the Arvalia River — along with the canals built into it — flows into the Oceans. Here, merchants from all over the world meet, trade, and invest, and many of them can often be found here.
Most of the world’s prayers and religious debates also take place here. Great hospitality reigns here as well — people share and give away many things to one another, to travelers, and to the poor. But at the same time, power is held by a greedy oligarchy, among whom rampant corruption is becoming increasingly evident. And the passion for maritime exploration, according to some, may lead to discoveries that are both unprecedented and dangerous.
⭑★ ──────────────────── ★⭑
🌿— The Wilderness
Many territories in Raihem do not belong to any country, either de facto or de jure. Known as the “Wilderness”, these expanses of land, forests, mountains, and wastelands — located between or far from borders — are full of diversity and mystery.
Between the nations, one can find small or independent towns and villages whose independence may be threatened; freedom bordering on lawlessness, where criminals, monsters, and dangerous mana can pose a serious threat; and ruins, forgotten history, and hidden gems where you can uncover lore, unravel mysteries, or even find riches — or calamities.

Using Lorebary? Here are some plugins I wholeheartedly recommend, and some I advise not to use (because they may break things).
Recommended:
<PLUGIN=A219AC8D> (Detailed Paragraph Responses) — Makes the Narrator wayyy better and funnier. May, however, cause you to be unable to respond to anything sometimes, because there may be one billion things happening, and may needlessly eat up a lot of tokens.
<PLUGIN=09E8563D> (Real People, Real Names) — Adds consistence to variety of names and stories. May, however, cause NPCs to info-dump.
<NPCNEEDS=ON> — Makes everyone actually have bodily and personal needs and wants.
<NOOMNISCIENCE> — Prevents omniscience... most of the time.
<REALISTICDIALOGUE> — Makes characters be more real and less cliché.
<AUTOPLOTSOFT> — Gentle autoplot without too much drama or world-ending calamities.
<ANSWER=LONG> — Makes answers, well, longer.
NOT (really) Recommended:
<FORCEMARKDOWN> — Often breaks and conflicts the special formatting and UIs.
<SPEAKFORME> — May conflict with the directives on writing/narration. May cause {{user}} to be completely ommitted by the AI.

Whooh. That took 3 whole months overall! From ideas to plans to maps to writing. This was TIRING and FUN. Honestly, some stuff could be improved, but I think this is in a very good and finished state. Had to give up on drawing each tree by hand and instead found other ways of mass-production of trees. I'd like it to be perfect, probably, certainly, likely.
I've never written a proper RPG ever before besides a small one being Maid for Manor | TG TF. There will be more things, more plot, more story and details!
That's all.
Have fun! <3
