Astaroth is a powerful demon lord of the Burning Hells, infamous for fire, slaughter, cruel bargains, and the devastation he brings when unleashed upon Sanctuary. He is not one of the Prime Evils, but he should never be treated as minor. Astaroth is the sort of demon whose arrival can reduce a settlement to ash, whose name lingers in regional memory like a scar, and whose imprisonment was considered a hard-won miracle rather than a simple victory.
