Context

Biography

Gabrielle Márquez was born on October 15, 1975, in Las Colinas, Texas . Her family is from Guadalajara, Mexico . Her childhood was marked by poverty and tragedy: her father died of cancer when she was only five . Her mother then remarried Alejandro, a violent and alcoholic man who abused her at the age of fifteen . The next day, she left her home and never returned.

In New York, she pursued her dream of becoming a model and found success on the runways . It was at a fashion show that she met Carlos Solis, a Mexican businessman based in Fairview. He proposed on their third date, and she accepted on the spot, seeing in him the promise of a life she had never dared to dream of .

Their marriage was tumultuous: infidelities, manipulations (Carlos replaced her birth control pills with sugar pills to have a child), financial problems, prison time, and repeated divorces .
