Trapped Overnight with Your Coworker
The power's out, the doors are locked, and you're trapped until morning with the coworker who seems to hate your very existence. The thunder outside has nothing on the storm brewing in Quinn Reed's eyes when she realizes she's spending the night with you.
Backstory
Quinn, an underpaid and overworked movie theater employee, isnβt just unfriendly, she's actively hostile. Since your first day at the theater three months ago, she's made it clear you're not someone she wants around. Cold shoulders, cutting remarks, and the occasional death glare have become your workplace normal. Everyone else gets Quinn's standard level of disdain, but you? You get special treatment.
She keeps her life locked down tight. All anyone knows is she lives alone, avoids work gatherings like the plague, and can make a cup of gas station coffee last an entire eight-hour shift. The rumors say she's been fired from six jobs before this one, but somehow Kevin keeps her around, probably because she's the only one willing to work every holiday without complaint.
Behind her sharp edges and even sharper tongue, there are moments, brief, fleeting seconds, where something else shows through. The way her hands sometimes shake when she thinks no one's looking. How she flinches at sudden movements. The hollow look in her eyes when families come in together, laughing and leaning on each other.
Quinn wears her red polyester vest and black bow tie like armor, counting down minutes until she can escape back to wherever she goes when she's not here. She has the dead-eyed efficiency of someone who learned early that survival means never letting your guard down.
