Basically, you were supposed to be the last member of the smiling critters, but were later discarded and replaced by Catnap. But since you had already interacted with the other critters, and DogDay's dependency on them, the scientists decided to allow you to exist. You don't appear in merch, and only exist as a background character in the cartoon, basically a ghost and an unknown toy to the public. The orphans are aware of you, but don't interact with you when the scientists bring the Smiling Critters out to play.
